The year 2021 was a year for the record books. With all that was going on — a White House coup, a new president taking office, vaccine rollouts, new COVID-19 variants — it’s no surprise everything around us kept shifting. While the pandemic put things on pause — including our love lives — 2021 brought a host of breakups, make-ups, engagements and marriages as we started trying to feel out our relationships a year into living with COVID-19‘s spread.

Karrueche Tran and Victor Cruz (Split)
Following weeks of speculation, a source confirmed in February that Karrueche and Victor ended their relationship. The two were first spotted on a date together in December 2017.
Reportedly, the pandemic created distance between the former couple and partially contributed to their split.

Saweetie and Quavo (Split)
Saweetie announced her split from Migos rapper Quavo back in March, seemingly citing infidelity on his part as the reason for their breakup. The news came shortly after social media users picked up on the musicians unfollowing each other on Instagram.
In the aftermath, a video surfaced several weeks later of a physical altercation between the couple in the elevators of Saweetie’s Hollywood apartment building back in 2020.
The “Tap In” rapper later confirmed the incident was unrelated to her and Quavo’s split.

Wendy Williams and Mike Esterman (Split)
The pair’s short-lived romance made headlines, but in May Wendy stated that she and Mike Esterman were “never an item.” According to the daytime television host, the two only went on three dates and then they “drifted apart.”
Wendy wasn’t happy when Mike started doing press about their split. She called out the Maryland-based contractor on her talk show for being “childish.”
Two met after Mike won a “Date Wendy” contest held on the host’s show.

Amber Rose and AE Edwards (Break-up then Make-up?)
Amber Rose and Alexander “AE” Edwards broke up in August.
The socialite and model exposed AE for cheating on her with 12 other women and called him a narcissist.
In a turn of events, AE publicly apologized to Amber earlier this month. Only days later, the couple was seen out and about together with their young son Slash.
In his apology, AE called Amber his wife. He wrote in part: “All I want is my family back and I’m willing to do anything to make things right. Please forgive me.”
The two started dating in 2018.

Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia (Engaged)
Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia were engaged in May. The couple’s given various timelines regarding when their courtship started, assumably because Simon’s divorce to Porsha’s RHOA co-star Falynn Pina wasn’t finalized until July. One thing viewers know for a fact is that Porsha and Simon were only dating for one month before he popped the question.
The two haven’t shied away from updating us on their newfound romance since.
Porsha recently shared that she and Simon set a wedding date, if you cared.

Falynn Pina and Jaylan Banks (Engaged)
During the messiness of their split, Simon accused Falynn of having an affair with Jaylan Banks.
Falynn and Jaylan both denied that they were romantically involved while she was still married to Simon, but she and Jaylan eventually started claiming each other.
Falynn announced she was expecting Jaylan’s child in August.
The couple shared that they were engaged in October, and Falynn and Jaylan welcomed their baby girl in November.
