If you’ve been spending your time in quarantine eating snack cakes, chips and making trips to the grocery store to re-up on whatever other goodies provide you comfort while sitting in the house, the good news is, you’re not alone. Plenty of people can relate to easing up on their diet restrictions and workouts because of the stress of the current pandemic, and the inability to go to gyms and be as active as they’d like. Just ask Porsha Williams. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star joked about how she’s looking in quarantine (she shared a throwback photo, seemingly during her time carrying baby PJ) while revealing that she’s gained more than 10 pounds since being in the house.
“Before Quarantine Vs Afterrr😂 I gotta start reeling it in whose with me ?! Let’s workout !” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ve gained about 12 pounds … I still look nice but just wanna be more comfortable and not pass out at the top of the steps lol so ima start with cardio in morning!!!”
Porsha joins a list of public figures who’ve been honest about finding solace in food during this time. But there are also a number of stars who have said they’ve lost weight or showed off the results of weight loss in the midst of dealing with COVID-19 struggles. We collected individuals who have done both to help encourage you in your health journey, or remind you that you’re not alone if you need a break from it. Hit the flip to see who has been open about their weight loss or weight gain during quarantine.
The Black-ish star has reportedly managed to drop a whopping 17 pounds by opting to work out from home. He shared that his clothes have gotten too big, so he’s getting back into a secret passion, sewing, to help him have pieces that fit.
“I’ve picked up sewing again,” he shared with Good Morning America. “I haven’t sewn anything since I was a theatre major at Howard University, so I’m waiting for my sewing machine to get here, so I can start altering my clothes myself.”
“I’m probably gonna look a little crazy,” he added.
The singer and reality TV personality shared that she’s gotten somewhat fluffy in quarantine because she has spent a good chunk of time sitting around watching Instagram Lives and eating comfort foods. But more than anything, she admitted it was her mental health that was taking a hit.
“I’m going to be a 100 percent transparent. I feel like I’ve been masking all of my feelings,” I haven’t had water until yesterday. I’m masking my feelings with food, with television, with looking at other people’s pages,” she said on her YouTube Live show Taco Talking Tuesday with Tamar Braxton.
“I be hopping back and forth off of people’s lives. Almost like I’m trying to find myself when I know who I am. You know who you are,” she added. “I hate who I have become in these past five and a half-six weeks! I’ve been closet eating in quarantine. So why are we trying to find ourselves through other people and through other things such as food?”
The Married to Medicine star (or former?) has been on the keto diet for a little while now and shared that she’s still slimming down. The beauty has lost at least 14 pounds by going the low-carb route and showed off her lean figure and snatched waist a few days ago while reciting Beyoncé lyrics. She still enjoys a cheat day here and there, but she’s managed to keep her weight loss going during these complicated times.
We don’t really see it but okay, girl.
Actress and reality TV personality Masika Kalysha claimed she gained some weight and asked her fans in an Instagram clip if they could relate.
“Who else gained a quarantine 15 😩”
However, some people felt it was just an excuse for the beauty to show off her curves because they couldn’t find a gut anywhere.
Taraji P. Henson
Aside from becoming something of a beautician during this quarantine, doing her own hair and nails and showcasing the results, Taraji P. Henson shared a small but mighty weight loss number in a recent interview. She told Access Hollywood that she has lost five pounds while indoors, enjoying up to an hour in the sauna while still eating, drinking and “going to Club Quarantine.”
Back in April, the Real Housewives of Atlanta BFF stepped on a scale and shared that she’d gained weight in quarantine (showing off a weight of 199). She does live with her nephews now, so maybe the period of homeschooling and entertaining them before Georgia eased up and began its reopening efforts played a part.
“Sh-t just got real!!!!” she wrote. “#f–krona #f–kquarantine #dietstartsNOW”
We interviewed the singer and new WW ambassador about getting on board with the weight-loss program after being inspired by his wife, Tamela Mann. David said that in a short amount of time, he’d already shed 15 pounds.
“I’ve already lost 15 pounds and I started a little over a month ago,” he said. “Depending on how I look after the first 20 pounds, my goal is to lose 30 to 45 pounds. I don’t want to get too small and I’m excited to wear clothes in my closet that have been a tad snug in the past. Small steps, one day at a time.”
The Love and Hip Hop Atlanta star, who has lost a substantial amount of weight as of late, admitted that she was starting to put back on some of the weight she lost while being stuck in the house. She had a comical meltdown about it on Instagram Live.
“I been sitting in the f–kin’ house for 14 f–kin days eating, gaining my motherf–kin’ weight back, talkin’ to y’all ugly a–es every motherf–kin’ day, b–h and I’m tired!”
Nevertheless, she’s been keeping up with her workouts, and we have a feeling she’ll be just fine when this is all over.
The singer has been quietly shedding the pounds since, at the least, last year. The reclusive songstress split from ex-husband Simon Konecki, with whom she shares a son, and word on the curb is, that fueled her weight loss. Global pandemic or not, the beauty hasn’t let that stop her from getting snatched, as she showed in a birthday message and thank you note to first responders and essential workers last week.
The model and mind behind Cravings admitted that she’d gone a little too far with some of her recipes in quarantine, to the point that she had put on quite a few pounds.
“I have hit the double digit mark on quarantine weight gain so that’s fun!!” she shared. “I don’t mind it, but definitely starting to feel a little sloth-like in the energy department, so maybe expect some…lighter…cravings coming soon.”
