The Gap Band
They grew up in the same house singing together and eventually decided to do it professionally. Brothers Charlie, Ronnie and Robert Wilson formed the Greenwood, Archer and Pine Street Band in 1967. Realizing the name was a mouthful, it was shortened to The Gap Band several years later. One of the original funk bands, the brothers would go on to have a successful career that spanned decades before officially retiring after 43 years of performing together.
