Our 15 Favorite Famous Singing Families
The Isley Brothers
The Isley Brothers hailed from Cincinnati, OH and when they originally emerged on the music scene in the 50’s, the group consisted of four brothers. O’Kelly, Rudolph, Ronald and Vernon were known for singing gospel music and performing at various churches until 13-year-old Vernon was struck and killed while riding his bike. Heavily influenced by doo-wop, the three remaining brothers started to experiment with other musical styles by blending in rock, funk and pop ballads. Keeping it a family affair, younger brother Ernie and Marvin joined the band playing guitars with Rudolph’s brother-in-law on the keyboard. They stuck together until 1983 when the group finally splintered.
