Brandon Reid

Source: Lifetime / Kinetic Content

We may very well have seen the last of Brandon Reid on Married at First Sight. It doesn’t look like he will be showing up to the reunion finale, and after his behavior during Decision Day with the experts, I’m sure nobody really wanted him there.

Brandon showed a great deal of chutzpah (or a–, however you choose to look at it). After refusing to appear on camera since the couples retreat, he showed up late to share his final decision. When he got there, the mass majority of his time was spent bickering back and forth with the experts, not even really addressing Taylor, and by the end of it all, he stormed out and said he was over it all, just as viewers were over him.

And for good reason. It’s been a really rocky season all around, but watching Brandon’s meltdowns and self-satisfied behavior was pretty much the worst part. Check out 10 of his most smug and ridiculous moments from this season, including quite a few instances from Decision Day alone.

Showing Up Late and Then Blaming Producers For His Lateness

You know it’s really hard to make the case that someone else has made you late when with a puffed up demeanor, you walk into a place late without a sorry to offer or a teeny bit of remorse. Nevertheless, that’s what Brandon confidently did, ready to gripe about things that had nothing to do with his marriage. He blamed production and the experts for him being late to work twice, claiming he wasn’t allowed to leave, though we know he’s the king of storming out of a place he no longer wants to be in. It was as though he’d simply come, sweaty armpits in tow, to stick it to everyone one last time.

Attempting to Hold Everything Up to Use the Bathroom

In the midst of going back and forth with the experts, who were really trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with him, Brandon interrupted Dr. Viviana while she was asking him about his commitment to his marriage (“Hold that thought”) to say he needed to go to the bathroom. He smiled and got up, not even asking if it was okay that he went, but letting it be known that he was going whether anyone liked it or not. Pastor Cal, who had already been annoyed from waiting on Brandon and being blamed for his work issues, had enough. He asked him if he had incontinence, noting that Brandon wasn’t the only person who needed to take a tinkle. Still, they let him go, because God forbid Brandon feel like he wasn’t being allowed to leave somewhere yet again.

Smiling After Getting His Apology from Production

As it turned out, Brandon’s only reason for being at Decision Day was not because he wanted to at least try for Taylor, but rather, because he said he got an apology from production, which he demanded for his claims that they’d made him late to his job. When he said he received that apology, he smiled a big Cheshire cat grin that Dr. Viviana called out: “Why are you smiling? Like, why are you smiling so much? It comes off very smug when this is serious. This is your marriage.”

Brandon couldn’t even answer.

Walking Out When He Couldn’t Get the Last Word With Taylor

Who knows if Brandon really even wanted to be with Taylor Dunklin, but based on his reaction to her saying she wanted a divorce, it seems he at least assumed she wanted to be with him. When he didn’t get the response he thought he deserved, he said, “I’m over it” and left. Like the Twitter user above, we really think Brandon didn’t like that he didn’t get to be the one to shut down moving forward with Taylor or have the last word, so he had to make a scene by leaving.

Calling Producers Pieces of “Sh-t”

Brandon made it clear that he wasn’t fond of producers, according to Taylor, from the wedding day. She claimed he threw a head producer’s phone over food. His worst meltdown with them, though, came when he wanted to take off his microphone pack at the couples retreat, and when told not to do so, got defensive. It was initially understandable, but then he cut up and stated getting in the face of one of the producers, calling a guy and a woman producer both a “piece of sh-t” with that trademark smile on his face.

Making It Clear It’s Not Him That’s the Problem, But Everyone Else

During the Decision Day episode, after being told that his partner wanted a divorce, Brandon said “I’ve never had this much problems in a relationship.”

He also made it seem as though he was the one chucking the deuces to Taylor, telling the cameras one last time, “This is over and done with. I am ready to move on with my life. I wish her nothing but the best, but love don’t live here no more,” ending his time on the show with his big smug smile.

Signing Up for a Show And Then Deciding He Didn’t Want to Be Seen on It

Brandon always wanted to be in control. Despite knowing that he was signing up to be on a show where you’re filmed pretty much all of the time, he didn’t like the cameras, or any cameras for that matter. After numerous attempts to shut down filming, following the couples retreat, Brandon decided he would no longer be on camera. He decided he would continue spending time with Taylor and doing the experiment, but on his own terms, without dealing with the other couples or anyone else he didn’t want to be bothered with for that matter.

Brandon Locking Himself in the Van

Peak control moment? Probably when Brandon, after a night of arguing with Taylor and cursing out production, attempted to leave without saying goodbye to her or anyone for that matter the next morning — aside from Michael. Both men decided to go back to D.C. together, with Brandon having to go to work. But when he assumed that production was going to make him speak to Taylor before leaving, he locked himself in the van that was supposed to be taking he and Michael back to D.C., and the person who was supposed to do the driving told him they wouldn’t be going anywhere if he didn’t unlock the door. Please explain to me again how folks wouldn’t let him leave when he was pulling stunts like this?

Ignoring Taylor During the Honeymoon

Early signs he was going to be problematic started during the honeymoon — as far as we were allowed to see. Brandon was pissed off one of their first mornings there after Taylor woke him up from sleeping, recording him snoring. Feeling a lot of anxiety over that, he chose to ignore her for pretty much an entire day, refuse her attempts to make nice and even make it known he wasn’t happy with her in front of the other couples. By the time he was ready to tell her why he was so upset, he ended up telling her to “get over it” when she let him know she was disappointed in his behavior.

Pretty Much Anytime He Smiled

Brandon was narcissistic most times if we’re being honest. He mostly thought about his own feelings, never having an issue separating himself from the group, cursing Taylor out in front of said group, allegedly prioritizing playing video games over romantic time and throwing an absolute fit when he couldn’t have things his way. It was one of the most childish displays of any guy who has been cast on Married at First Sight, and we’re glad we don’t have to see it anymore.
