Why Aren’t They Married Yet? Celebrity Studs Over 40 We Wonder About

You know how it is, a man’s stock value doesn’t really decline as he ages, which means that he gets to take his sweet little time when playing the field and deciding on who to wife up. But despite the fact that men settle down at an older age, relative to women, many guys are still looking to get married by the time they hit their 30s. And when we meet seemingly great guys in their 40s, who are single with no kids, we sometimes wonder…what’s up with that?

When it comes to celebrities, we know that we don’t know all of their business but some of these fine, single, 40-something celebrities got us confused. For example, why is Maxwell still on the market and how come we never see him out with nobody? Is it that many of these guys don’t want to settle for one woman? Do they not want to grow up? Or is it that they struggle with finding “the one” to accompany them on the red carpet?

Q-Tip

This legendary innovator has not aged very much in the past decade, let alone the past twenty years since he made his debut as part of the groundbreaking rap collective A Tribe Called Quest. But we wonder, aside from the stories about a romance with Janet Jackson in the 90s, what’s goin on with the brotha? Between his high-profile deejaying gigs in New York and his solo career, Tip keeps busy. And we’re sure that he meets many adoring female fans every day.

Maxwell

How does one of the most popular crooners of the past two decades rarely get photographed with a date? He supposedly was in an 8 year relationship prior to the realease of his intoxicating 2009 album BLACKsummers’night but it’s a wonder how such a longtime partner never accompanied him on tour or award shows. We know the ladies love Maxwell and a single Maxwell is much more enticing to fans than a committed one, but dayum…

Hill Harper

Now, Harper is kinda like Patti Stringer of Millionaire Matchmaker fame, who doles out sound advice for a living but at 40+ years of age, can’t show that it’s worked for her. I mean, we love Mr. Harper. He’s cute, seems kind and really dedicates a large part of his life to helping Black youth. But as an author of relationship books like How Men and Women Can Build Loving, Trusting Relationships, and as someone who’s been in the limelight for almost a decade, we are wondering when we’ll get to see this 45-year-old Harvard grad find Mrs. Right.

Michael Ealy

So this fine, fine actor hasn’t hit 40 yet (he’s 38) but he’s been around long enough to make us curious as where his girl is at.   Since news surfaced of an on-set romance with his co-star Halle Berry in Their Eyes Were Watching God six years ago, we haven’t really seen Ealy with a serious chick on his arm. Is he still enjoying the Hollywood pickings?

Tavis Smiley

We know Smiley’s all types of busy taking down the President and all, but he really needs to make time for his love life. How come we never hear about this 47 year old talking about the future first lady of his household?

Questlove

The drummer for the legendary iladelph Roots crew is more of a household name than even the band leader Black Thought. That’s because Questlove moonlights as a DJ and can be found at the hottest parties from New York to Miami to Los Angeles on any given night. But again, we never see Mr.Questlove with a lady on his arm. He walks so many red carpets that we’re still confused as to why we can’t find a single image of him with a special lady friend. Is the 40-year-old just too social to hold down a relationship?  We think that may have something to do with it.
