On a new episode of Raq Rants, Raquel Harper’s show on BET, she sat down with K. Michelle, and the topic of Idris Elba came up. It went from talking about what that relationship was like to getting K to open up about their sex life.
The 33-year-old “Can’t Raise a Man” singer said that when they dated, which was allegedly for eight months in 2014, she saw a side of him others weren’t privy to.
“That was the one person who I learned the most from about business because he was a f–king drug dealer and DJ and he’s a hood a– Memphis nigga for real with an accent behind closed doors,” she said. “But on the camera…”
Harper asked K to take things a step further when discussing what things were like behind closed doors, and despite the fact that he’s happily engaged to be married to Sabrina Dhowre, she decided to talk about his oral sex abilities anyway.
“He’s very passionate,” she said. “That was so good. It was just passionate.”
She admitted that talking about those times takes her back — and gets her a bit hot and bothered: “Sometimes, girl,” she said. “Sometimes it do.”
She talked about his head game in August, too, saying, “Amazing head! It was good. I remember that head.”
Listening to her reminisce fondly about her time with the actor, we were reminded that she’s had so much to say about their relationship and how that’s in extreme contrast to what he’s said about it: Nothing.
But K has unabashedly talked about the way they allegedly were for years now — enough for us to be able to share all of her statements about him with you. Look below and hit the flip to check out everything she’s ever said about Idris Elba since she’s at it again.
The Rebellious Soul Connection
2014: “My album, Rebellious Soul will be turned into a musical. Yeah, it’s on VH1 and Idris Elba is the director. It’s my first time telling anybody so you guys kind of get it first. I took every song off of Rebellious Soul and turned it into a conversation and flipped it. Kind of like a female “Trapped in the Closet.” Turned the whole album around. Idris heard it, loved it, and we decided to team up on it, me and him. VH1 will air it. And I didn’t want to make it this celebrity thing. Me and him decided we really wanted it to be focused on the story, you know, fun, and laugh and cry. And you know, people have been talking to me about a lot of acting roles and things but this will be my first time really being on the screen.”
She Started Dropping Clues That He Broke Her Heart with Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart
In a trailer for her album, Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart, she talked about the pain of the heartbreak that inspired the whole thing, including hit song “Maybe I Should Call.”
2014: “I remember asking somebody was I gon’ die! I said, ‘Am I gon’ die? Is this gon’ get better? Is this gon’ ever feel better for me?’ You just feel used. You feel like time wasted. You feel like, ‘What was wrong with me?’ Yeah, you go through all those emotions.”
She Says His Baby Turned Their Relationship Upside Down
2014: “The last time I was in love was recently and it was very secretive and quiet. And he had a baby that was about to be born. And yeah, that was very – I think – I [even wanna] cry–that was very hurtful…
He told me about the baby that was about to be born. But he also told me that…you know, we always wanna listen to men and we always want to make excuses for them in order not to pay attention and basically, I was like a glorified side-chick. And sometimes you don’t even know you’re the side-chick until you look back and say, ‘Damn b***h, I was the side-chick, gotdamn.’ But he had this baby and he just wasn’t for the baby’s mother. And you know, he wasn’t about her. And he spent a lot of time with me for eight months. A lot of time with me, here in America, a lot of time was spent. So I just…yeah!
When men, they say so much but not enough and I just assumed…how could you? You know, you are never with this woman. Like, you know, how you see things? And basically we were waiting on the baby to be born, only for you still to be there and now the new excuse is- ‘I can’t leave my baby.’
I’m not gonna do that. I did that for eight months.”
She Said She Loved Him Without Naming Him
2014: “He is probably somewhere mad as sh*t. I sent all of these records to him first and he emailed me back and texted me back and said, ‘This is art! I’m so sad this is where we are.’ Sh*t I ain’t that sad. It’s a sad situation but I got records from it.
I think for me when you like somebody, you know, I write songs. I do whatever. I’ve been very protective of certain things and situations…But you know what? I can honestly say, I really respect him and our situation. And I’ll always love him. And that’s it and that’s all I’m going to say.”
She Named Him For the First Time
2014: “It’s no hate for Idris. He actually was a good man and my thing is you have to go raise your child and what I’m not going to do is get in the way of that. I’m not in the way of his baby mother and his family right now. I’ve been a woman.
He had the baby and it was just kind of like, I’m not going to be in the middle of this so I walked away from it. What kind of woman am I to say, ‘Okay, leave your family and come and be with me.’
I think that as a woman I did the right thing.”
She Claimed She Wasn’t Initially Feeling Him
2014: “I never thought that I would like him either. I thought his jeans were too tight. I told him! And I thought his accent was kind of funny. No offense to the UK, it was just different for me…We just clicked. People aren’t always what they seem. He’s not a bad person at all. He has his ratchet side and he cleans up nicely but he’s very down to earth. He’s very fun.”
She Stopped Hearing From Him…
2014: “He knows with my music, I’m the Black Taylor Swift. I’m going to write about you and I’m going to talk about you. He really has no choice. Within the last week, I haven’t spoken to him about it. I’m sure he’s a little bothered, but my thing is, I feel like I’ve protected you for so long. These are my emotions that I deserve…I have to protect myself and deal with my emotions. I love him and always will.”
She Felt Some Type of Way, Briefly, About Him Proposing to Sabrina Dhowre Because He Said He Didn’t Seem Himself Settling Down
2018: “So you know me, I’m like damn, b—h!'” she said. “You know what I’m saying? You had some sh-t I didn’t have. You had some sauce. You know, men are different with different women. That wasn’t supposed to be my man. But out of every relationship I’ve been in, I learned the most from him. It wasn’t a volatile, angry — he didn’t bring out real cursing. He was a gentleman. Very supportive.”
She Resents That He Never Defended Her — Or Backed Up Her Claims About a Relationship
2018: “I felt like he didn’t defend me. I feel like when people were calling me a liar, again, about my relationship–I’ve been sitting here with this man for like nine months. I just could not believe we were spending so much time together he just did not come out and say, ‘Stop attacking her!’”
