Rachel Roy Got One Of Her First Big Breaks At Rocawear
Roy started her career as an intern at Rocawear. In an interview with Time, she said that based on what she learned during her interning years at the company, this is the advice she would share with other hopeful designers: “Definitely intern, because learning what you don’t like is really, really vital, and knowing eventually what you do like.” Roy met ex-husband, Damon Dash, who gave her that big break, and became creative director of the women and children’s divisions of Rocawear before starting her own line, which Dash reportedly helped finance.
