Coming in second opening weekend behind Silence of the Lambs, New Jack City did surprisingly well, pulling in an estimated $7 million its first weekend. The film that starred Wesley Snipes, Ice T and Allen Payne told the story of a crime lord and his effects on a neighborhood in New York City. In the end, New Jack City fared well in theaters grossing $47.6 million nationwide.
