Lord…Erik has so many requirements for Virginia but I don’t know that he’s paying attention to what’s important to her—other than her independence, which he is consistently trying to stifle. It’s a shame that he speaks about how family is so important to him and how  much he wants children when he hasn’t made an effort to get to know Virginia’s family. And I get that he’s been focused on the two of them. But if he sees the relationship Virginia has built with his people, it wouldn’t have been a bad idea for him to at least ask if she would like for him to do the same.

I was happy that both Dr. Pepper and Virginia’s father echoed the sentiment that marriages don’t all have to look alike. They can design their own. But herein lies the problem. Erik and Virginia’s expectations for marriage are drastically different. And you can’t force those type of expectations on people.
