For a majority of Nicki Minaj’s time in the spotlight, Safaree Samuels was by her side. The pair dated for more than 10 years, but once she blew up, Samuels was made to look like just the hype man and helper as opposed to Minaj’s boyfriend for the sake of her image. He said it was tough on their relationship.
“If we go out, I can’t even hold your hand, I can’t even put my arm around you,” he said while speaking to The Breakfast Club. “I’m an affectionate dude. I don’t want to have to be walking a couple steps behind you and acting like you’re not my girl. After a while that put a strain on somebody.”
