Men who pretend to be genuine just to sleep with women are the worst ones of all. Compared to men who outwardly whisper nasty things in your ears or, worse, catcall you for everyone to hear, the faux-genuine men may seem kind and considerate to your face. But when you find that they ignore you next time you run into them (and perhaps after you’ve slept with them), or simply never follow up about lunch plans you made, you realize you actually prefer guys who put their sleaziness on the table for everyone to see. The real shame is that there are plenty of women who would be fine with a casual hookup if men stated that’s what they wanted. Wow—a man who is willing to talk about mistakes he’s made in past relationships, and lessons he’s learned about love. That certainly seems like he is willing to emotionally connect, right? And since he is talking about having been in relationships, clearly he can be in relationships, isn’t that the case? That’s exactly what this guy is hoping you’ll think. You know how men who are in relationships are instantly more attractive because some woman wants them? The guy in the above scenario is counting on that dynamic, but he’s just referencing an old relationship to help him out.
