It Ain’t None Of Your Friends’ Business… Celebrity Couples Who Are Notoriously Private
In this day and age where celebs and everyday folks take to their social media pages to share every little detail of their lives, there are still some stars who like to keep their private lives very private.
Cassie and Diddy
Rumor had it Diddy and Cassie were dating well before they were ever photographed together. Caught up in a love triangle with Cassie and his children’s mother Kim Porter, Diddy snuck around with the “Me & U” singer showing up at the same events but making sure to never arrive or leave together. Recently the two have been more open about their relationship in public and on social media. Diddy has posted photos professing his love for Cassie and last month sparked rumors when he put up a picture of an engagement ring with the caption, “Baby do you like it? I just want to get you wat you Like!” he added. “I just wanna Mk you smile 🙂 #takeDat!”
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez
Halle Berry was very open and vocal about her relationship with model Gabriel Aubry but has decided to take the opposite approach with fellow actor Olivier Martinez. Together since 2010, the pair live very quiet lives together. However, Martinez’s Thanksgiving Day brawl with Aubry became public after photos of the model sporting a black eye made its way around the Internet. Becoming engaged and then tying the knot without the media’s knowledge, Berry gave birth to son Maceo late last year. Berry has made it no secret of her desire to move to France where the laws against the paparazzi are much stricter and she can shield her children from the public eye.
Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney
There’s no denying Lady Gaga is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. But few people know of her relationship with actor Taylor Kinney. The two met in 2011 after he starred in her “You and I” music video and began dating shortly afterwards. Shying away from the public eye, the couple made a rare appearance together at the 2014 Golden Globes. The “Applause” singer did open up to Ellen DeGeneres about dating the “Chicago Fire” star: “At the end of the day he’s my best friend … and having your lover be your best friend, I mean, it’s the best thing ever.”
Denzel and Pauletta Washington
Denzel Washington got his start in television before switching over to the silver screen. Soon becoming one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, Washington married wife Pauletta back in 1983 after meeting on the set of the television movie Wilma and she has been by his side ever since. While rumors have floated around of his infidelity, Washington and his wife have remained together for over thirty years, not an easy feat in Hollywood. In an interview with Ebony magazine, the couple said overcoming trying times has strengthened their marriage. “For me, the ‘love’ in the love story is how you come through the trials,” said Pauletta. “The passion, the lust — that’s easy. The love story is how you come out in love after hardship.”
Jennifer Lawrence and Nicolas Hoult
Jennifer Lawrence was the talk of tinsel town in 2013. While she was praised for her stellar performance in American Hustle, her relationship with actor Nicolas Hoult has received less attention. The pair met in 2011 while filming X-Men: First Class together and were together for two years before splitting up. Lawrence and Hoult reunited six months later to rekindle the romance but don’t expect to see the couple walking the red carpet hand in hand. They are known for arriving separately and meeting up inside to avoid being photographed together.
Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha
We didn’t even know these two were together until Kerry Washington’s friend spilled the beans saying she and former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha had tied the knot. An actress since the early 90’s, Washington saw her career reach new heights after starring in the widely popular ABC drama “Scandal.” Pregnant with their first child, Washington still insists on showing up at red carpet events without her husband. Washington flew solo arriving at this year’s Academy Awards by herself but Asomugha met up with the I Think I Love My Wife star later on at the exclusive Vanity Fair Oscar after-party.
Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels
Nicki Minaj made a lot of noise in the rap industry when she first emerged several years ago. Her outlandish wigs and shapely figure helped her gain a lot of attention immediately. There for her rise to the top was Safaree Samuels — a high school friend turned personal assistant and hype man. But soon word got out that the two had more than just a working relationship. He has several Nicki Minaj tattoos on his body. Although Minaj has yet to confirm the two are together, she often wears a huge diamond on her left ring finger, something she’s done for the last few years. Recently the two were spotted wearing matching diamond wedding bands.
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis met as co-stars on the popular sitcom “That 70’s Show” when they played high school lovers and they remained friends after the show went off of the air. But shortly after it was announced that Kutcher’s marriage to Demi Moore was over, he and the Black Swan actress apparently took their friendship to the next level. Paparazzi caught the two canoodling in Central Park confirming the two were an item. Recently, Kunis has been spotted with an engagement ring on her left hand but in true Kutcher-Kunis fashion, no official word from the couple about becoming engaged has been released.
Beyonce and Jay Z
Two of the biggest stars on the planet have managed to keep their relationship relatively quiet. Jay Z and Beyonce have been together for more than 12 years but the first time fans really got an inside look at their private lives together was when Beyonce’s HBO documentary premiered. In “Life Is But A Dream,” the former Destiny’s Child member finally opened up about her relationship and shared some never before seen footage of the two interacting. But don’t expect the Brooklyn rapper to be just as open and forthcoming about his wife or their two-year-old daughter.
Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow
Besties with Jay Z and Beyonce, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow have followed in their famous friends’ footsteps by staying mum on their relationship. Mourning the loss of her father, Paltrow met Martin backstage at a Coldplay concert and they tied the knot the following year. The couple has two children together and while she rarely talks about her marriage, in 2008 Paltrow started her own lifestyle blog to share recipes, fashion tips and everything in between.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
After his relationship with Cameron Diaz fizzled out, Justin Timberlake quietly dated actress Jessica Biel. Photographs of the two together started to circulate in 2007 but they were mum on the relationship. Word had it they separated for a while only to find their way back to each other. The “Cry Me A River” singer popped the question in late 2011 and details surrounding their impending nuptials were so secret, the location of their October 2012 wedding was a mystery to invited guests until the last minute.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
In one of the worst kept secrets of young Hollywood love, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart denied they were an item for years. It wasn’t until after Stewart was caught red-handed in an extramarital affair with the older and very married Rupert Sanders and photos leaked of the two making out that Stewart acknowledged her relationship with her Twilight co-star. Stewart released a public apology to Pattinson, calling him the most important thing in her life, and although they reconciled and tried to make the relationship work, the couple soon split for good.
Julia Roberts and Daniel Moder
Julia Roberts has dated her fair share of fellow actors but after meeting camera man Daniel Moder on the set of the 2000 film The Mexican, she was smitten. So smitten that she broke up with boyfriend Benjamin Bratt and waited for Moder to divorce his wife so the two could be together. The pair wed in 2002 and has managed to stay out of the public eye mainly because the Eat Pray Love star relocated away from tinsel town to raise her family in Taos, New Mexico.
Matt and Luciana Damon
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck arrived in Hollywood at the same time after winning Oscars for writing the screenplay for the 1997 film Good Will Hunting. While Affleck’s relationships have ended up on the cover of the weekly glossies, Damon’s has stayed relatively off of the radar. In 2003, Damon met Luciana Barroso while on location in Miami. The couple wed two years later and are now the proud parents of four children, all girls. Damon legally adopted Luciana’s daughter from a previous relationship.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may have hooked up in a scandalous way but the two have managed to weather the storm and build a family together. Many blamed Jolie for coming in between Pitt and his then wife Jennifer Aniston. To their credit both Jolie and Pitt kept their relationship out of the public eye, choosing instead to use their celebrity platform to shine a light on their humanitarian work across the globe. When they first met on the set of the 2005 movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jolie was a single mother of one. Now their family has blossomed to six children.
