Best known for her role as Florida on the long running CBS television series, Good Times, the late Esther Rolle was an iconic figure of the African American woman during a critical time. Featured in movies Rosewood, Down in the Delta and shows Maude and Murder, She Wrote, Rolle portrayed the strong, authentic figure of a black woman and mother, which was lacking from so many early sitcoms.
