Irma P. Hall /Mother Joe (Big Mama) – Soul Food
If you didn’t get teary eyed when Mother Joe passed away in the movie Soul Food, then you must not have been paying attention or something, because that was one of the most emotional moments in black movie history. The woman who tried so hard to keep her family together and did all she could just to show that she loved them so much was now gone. Despite her passing, her message of keeping the family together still remained…and she showed just how good of a mother figure she was when her family finally realized her message towards the end. She was a great mother figure and anybody would be fortunate to have a mother who embodies those same characteristics.
