Here at Madame Noire, we’re always curious about the family members behind the big celebrity names. If you haven’t noticed, we like to poke around and find photos of siblings, mothers and dads of the rich and famous. And they’re so many of ’em to cover, we can’t do it all in one installment. So enjoy this latest installment of Celebrity Moms and let us know if you’d like us to feature anyone in the future.

Lil Wayne’s mom, Jacinda Carter, had him when she was only 19 years old. The man she remarried years later was a huge and positive influence on her son’s life; unfortunately, her husband (Wayne’s stepdad) was murdered, leaving an indelible mark on Lil Wayne.

We can’t say that Ne-Yo bears an obvious resemblance to his mother. Considering that his father is Nigerian, we can assume he bears a stronger resemblance to his pops.

It’s no surprise  that Trey Songz’s mom, April Tucker, turns heads wherever she goes. In fact, she became a trending topic after she accompanied her son to the 2010 BET Awards.  Considering that she’s only 44, and has the looks of a thirty-something, Tre better watch out and protect his mama from all the hungry men in his industry.

Common’s mom, Dr. Mahalia Hines, was essentially a co-writer of his recent memoir “One Day It Will All Make Sense.” Dr. Hines worked as a teacher and principal for the Chicago Public Schools for most of her career. Common is her only child.

Is that her mom or her older sister? Rita Owens is indeed Latifah’s mother. Rita raised Latifah and her brother after divorcing her husband when Latifah was only 10 years old. She supported her family by working as an arts teacher.

We don’t see Kelly Rowlands’ mom much, since we’ve often seen Kelly pictured with her other parents Matthew and Tina Knowles. Apparently, Kelly’s mom couldn’t keep up with the Destiny’s Child’s training schedule while working as a live-in nanny when Kelly was 9 years old so she allowed her daughter to stay with the Knowles temporarily.

Aliyah Najm, T-Pain’s mama, is better known as “Mama Pain.” She’s not only steered her son’s career but also is heavily involved with other entertainment and philanthropic endeavors. Recently, she launched a non-profit, CareGivers 911 Foundation, to “to support, provide services and educate individuals responsible for the care of loved ones who are terminally ill or have a life-long illness.”

Everyone knows that LisaRaye is tight with her daughter Kai but it’s good to know that she’s close with her own mother, Katie McCoy, as well. When LisaRaye was pursuing her career in Los Angeles, her mother left Chicago to move out West and help raise her grandchild.

Valerie Washington, an educator, has a lot to be proud about when it comes to her daughter Kerry Washington. As one of the few black actresses with a steady career in Hollywood, Washington is a rarity.
