The truth is that the male orgasm is fairly simple. With the right stimulation, most men climax. But for women, it’s much more complicated. If certain emotional and mental conditions aren’t met, then touching, rubbing or penetrating in just the “perfect” way might do literally nothing for a woman.

Scientific American explains how sexual desire is a more cognitive and emotional experience for women. Many women need to feel good about themselves and about their bond with their partner to be aroused. The pill doesn’t have much to do with any of that.

In fact, when ladies know they can’t get pregnant, they are more apt to feel more sexually-liberated and more relaxed – which are key for women to climax.
