Ava DuVernay is a top tier producer and director. She shines when executing her vision through her films and it has helped her make history. She became the first Black woman to win the Best Director Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. She was also the first Black female director to have her film nominated for Academy Award for Best Picture and to be nominated for a Golden Globe award.
