#FBF: We Just Discovered We Were The Tackiest Kids Ever In College

It’s always fun — and a bit embarrassing — to look back on your younger years and see how far you’ve come, whether it be with relationships, your career or even your style. Thanks to Facebook memories, I’m reminded of the latter more often than I care to every time I log on to the social media platform that, unfortunately, just took off during the worst fashion years of my adult life: college.

As I chuckled and shamefully shared pictures of my university days gone by with our other editors today I was comforted by one fact alone: Their clothing was just as bad as mine. As so, with their permission, I put together this #FlashbackFriday post proving what I think is now unequivocally true: Everybody was tacky in college. Check out the pics we have to prove it and tell us about your tacky college style in the comments section.

What you know about a Baby Phat tee? Hopefully nothing today. And you weren’t stylin’ if you didn’t have the cellphone and digital camera holders on your belt. #swagu

Kitten heels, a chain belt, and gauchos –I basically look like an ad for everything that was wrong with 2006.

And then I had the nerve to repeat the look again with a newsboy hat and plastic earrings — and bring a friend into it.

But I wasn’t alone. In another college in the Midwest, editors Veronica and Victoria were stuntin’ on ’em in kitten heels and sandals with a halter sheath dress accented by a keyhole opening and spandex around the thighs — just where every 18 year old needs it.

Just in case you didn’t get the full effect in the previous picture.

Tights and gang signs… the perfect combination for a college-educated woman.

That time I took using red (patent leather) as an accent color a little too far.

As you can see, Lauren had a love for red too — in every shade possible. We won’t get on the bang purposefully peeking out from under her headband which is meant to hold hair back.

Bell sleeve polyester tops and wide-leg khakis were a must in 2009. At least that’s what we tell ourselves now.

2016 Lauren because she refused to let me use her throwback photos without showing what she looks like today. #Glowup

And then I had to do the same.

cuThe kitten heels might still be there for Victoria, but there’s no denying the style upgrade.
