Marion Barry
Former Mayor Marion Barry was one of the most beloved politicians in the DC area. He was serving in his third term as mayor when he was busted in a sting operation. Video was released of Mayor Barry smoking freebase cocaine out of a glass pipe. He was sentenced to six months in federal prison shortly before losing the November election. After his release, Barry staged a comeback and served as city council in Ward 8 before running and winning a fourth term as mayor. He did not seek a fifth term. The once disgraced politician died from cardiac arrest last month.
