Back in September we shared with you a slideshow on young men we watched grow up before our eyes on TV and more who, well, aren’t so young anymore. It did so well, and people had so much to say that I decided it only made sense to find a few more child stars who blossomed quite beautifully over the years and look great as grown men. Shall we?
Brandon Quintin Adams, 35
The Sandlot, The Mighty Ducks and The Moonwalker star used to be everybody’s crush back in the day. Remember when he grew up a little and played Brandy’s college boyfriend, Aaron, on “Moesha”? Well, Brandon Quintin Adams is all grown up now and he’s still adorable–but in a much different way. He doesn’t act very much anymore (he does a lot of voice work), but he just did a short film called Stuck In The Corners that we need to find and see.
Justin Combs, 20 (Going On 21)
Diddy’s first-born baby has been in the public eye since he was an infant in a diaper in the “Flava In Ya Ear” video. But these days he’s making a name for himself in the public eye for his football skills as a Defensive Back for the Bruins of UCLA. His skills were so good that he got a scholarship to play there, so all his dad’s dollars weren’t even necessary to pay for his education. Go ‘head cutie!
Nick Jonas, 22
One of the youngest Jonas brother started off just as sweet and innocent as his brothers when the group came out with their purity rings and pop music as pastor’s kids. But oh how time has changed things. When Jonas flexed his muscles for the cover of “Flaunt” magazine, we knew for sure that he wasn’t a kid anymore. And as for those purity rings? Well, he’s lost his I guess: “Sex is part of a healthy life.”
Khleo Thomas, 25
The Holes and Roll Bounce actor has been acting since he was a little ‘ol thing (starting back in ’98), but he’s definitely all grown up, and actually, he’s trying to be taken seriously as an actor. Just call him Khleo. He’s worked alongside friend Bow Wow on some music, and released three mixtapes, as well as the songs “5 On It,” “Tonight,” “No Questions,” and “Side Ni**a.” Don’t ask me what’s up with that last one…
Robert Ri’chard, 31
The “My Cousin Skeeter” and “One on One” star used to have a lot of my friends in school acting thirsty back in the day. Blame it on the light eyes *shrugs*
But Ri’chard has managed to keep his s*xy going after all these years, and his buff body (oh, and good acting), is the reason why Ri’chard is the star of the upcoming Magic Mike-esque movie, Chocolate City. Looking good!
Shia LaBeouf, 28
“Even Stevens” used to be one of my favorite Disney shows back in the day (I was too old for it but damn it was funny!). The show went on from 2000-2003 and was a big hit, but after years of being the funny, quirky kid, and even after a few years of being a blockbuster actor (Transformers anyone?), LaBeouf has become quite the serious actor and cutie. He will be even cuter when he finally stays out of legal trouble for good and tries to get along with his co-stars.
I don’t know how you were introduced to Drake, but a good friend of mine introduced to me back when we were in college and Drake was still on Degrassi: The Next Generation. As it turned out, ‘Wheelchair Jimmy’ was interested in rapping and had a songs out here and there. I really didn’t want to give him a try (what actor actually turns out to be an awesome rapper…?), but as it turns out, he ended up being one of the biggest stars on the planet (and the cutest). They don’t call him Mr. Steal Yo Girl for nothing…
Mike Vitar, 35
Benny from “The Sandlot” is all grown up! And he’s a firefighter! Vitar started acting when he was 12 and had all the little girls swooning when he played “Benny The Jet” Rodriguez. Eventually, Vitar retired from acting and decided to spend his time saving lives as a firefighter. As if he wasn’t already cute, who doesn’t love a man in a uniform?
Tahj Mowry, 28
After playing the adorable T.J. Henderson on “Smart Guy” in the ’90s, Tia and Tamera’s little brother took a break from acting to get an education and play football. But he’s back, and looking great, playing Tucker Dobbs on the ABC Family show “Baby Daddy.”
Joseph Gordon Levitt, 33
I first saw Joseph Gordon Levitt in the movie Angels in the Outfield (1994), but most people were introduced to the actor back when his bob (and his side-part) was on fleek and he was playing Tommy Solomon on the NBC hit show, “3rd Rock From The Sun.” But he’s all grown and doing big things as a serious actor, director and producer. We low-key miss the bob on JGL though…
Lee Thompson Young
It hurt my heart to find out that my biggest childhood crush, Lee Thompson Young, aka, The Famous Jett Jackson, took his life last year. He was just everything! And after being one of the cutest kids to grace the TV screen (those eyes…), he grew up to be a gorgeous guy and an even greater actor. He’s sorely missed.
