“American Idol” was very popular when it first debuted but by season 12, producers were looking to boost the show’s ratings. Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey were brought in and the tension between the two artists behind the scenes was more interesting than the show itself. TMZ got its hands on some footage of the Young Money rapper getting into it with the legendary diva and she ended up giving her a verbal lashing. But none of the drama helped the ratings and they were both let go. Minaj, who has a penchant for being late, also infamously showed up wearing a hoodie and shades after a live taping of the show had already begun.
