Saaaang Chile! Secular Singers Who Started In The Church

- By

Little Richard

His charisma and over the top showmanship on the stage helped lay the foundation of rock and roll music. Little Richard’s success dates all the way back to the 1950’s and he has influenced artists from rap to funk. But before he left his mark on the music world, the Macon, Georgia native grew up in a Pentecostal church and enjoyed the live music that was incorporated with the Word. Soon he was singing with traveling shows that came to his town and before long, Little Richard left his humble beginnings to pursue a career of his own.
