While some women dread celebrating the big 4-0 and beyond, others transition into this new and exciting season of their lives quite gracefully. They realize that beauty knows no age restraints and as Vivica A. Fox frequently chants, “age is nothing to be ashamed of.” Have you ever wondered how your favorite celebrities over 40 maintain such youthful glows and skin flawless enough to compete with even the teeny boppers? The secrets are yours for the taking, but be prepared to click!

Naomi Campbell: Facials + Steams

At 43 years old, British supermodel Naomi Campbell still effortlessly struts the runway. Though she says that she doesn’t concern herself with aging too much, she told Harper’s Bazaar last February that to keep her skin flawless, she turns to steams, facials, and everything she can to keep her skin “elasticated.”

Pharrell Williams: Use Cold Water

Though this slideshow is a tribute to the ladies, you certainly can’t hold a conversation about great looking 40+ celebs without mentioning über-talented singer, songwriter and producer, Pharrell Williams. At 40 years old, Pharrell doesn’t look a day over 30. How does he keep it all together, you ask? Well, of course, part of it is due to great genes, but earlier this year he revealed that he takes his skincare queues from Naomi Campbell.

“I’m [washing my face]. Like little small stuff. Naomi Campbell taught me a couple of tricks back in the day, like washing your face with cold water, keeping your pores closed. People say my parents look pretty young too. For me, you just have to wash your face.  I use Cetaphil,” Pharrell told Angie Martinez.

Taraji P. Henson: Shea Butter

At 43 years old, the Hollywood beauty known as Taraji P. Henson says that staying youthful and vibrant is certainly a lifestyle, and while she has several strategies for maintaining her signature glow, she revealed to Glamour that shea butter is a staple product in her beauty routine.

“I wash my face in the morning and at night. I drink a lot of water. You have to stay hydrated. As far as my hair…I wrap my hair at night because that’s less heat on it every day. I’m a health Slore, for lack of a better word. I love healthy hair. I love healthy skin. I love skin that glows. That’s why I love this Shea butter, because I put it on and I feel like, when I go home and I go to bed I take my clothes off, I feel like I’ve just put lotion on. And I only put it on once a day. I use the cream for my feet and I put socks on at night.”

Beverly Johnson: Fish Oil

At 60 years old, supermodel Beverly Johnson can probably school us all on skincare, especially since she looks nowhere near her age! The ageless beauty revealed that every morning before applying her makeup, she pops open an Omega XL capsule and “rubs the fish oil supplement”onto her skin.

“This is what I love the most. I open up a Omega XL capsule and I actually apply it to my skin.”

Gabrielle Union: Cleansers + Scrubs

The 40-year-old Being Mary Jane actress, Gabrielle Union, says that her skincare routine isn’t complicated at all. Last year she told Essence that exfoliators, cleansers and toners are the three key components to her beauty regimen.

It’s funny because I have all of my cleansers in my shower but it really depends on what I feel like using that day. If I want an extra boost, I use the Neutrogena Oil Free Pink Grapefruit Scrub because it’s so pungent. If I wake up with a huge blemish on my face, I’ve got to attack it so I might use an acne-specific cleanser. When I take off my makeup I love the Pink Grapefruit cleanser because when I’m working, they really pack on the makeup so I have to use a deep cleanser. I always use the Clear Pore Toner after I cleanse just to make sure I’ve removed all the makeup.”

Garcelle Beauvais: Moisture + Sunscreen

At 46 years old, Garcelle Beauvais says that she keeps her skin in tip-top shape by simply exfoliating and moisturizing.

“I have eczema so I have to be very careful. I moisturize a lot and exfoliate. My go to skincare products for my face are Bioelements Moisture Positive Cleanser and Epicuren Hyrdo Plus Moisturizer. For my body, I keep it simple and use Dove Body Wash and Lotion. I truly believe you have to pamper yourself, as a busy mom of two small active boys, I don’t get as much time to go to the spa, so I turned my own bathroom into a serenity place. I soak in there, I pray and meditate in that room. It is where I let my hair down and the day go. Sunscreen is a must.”

Sanaa Lathan: Saunas + Cold Pools

Gorgeous 42-year-old actress Sanaa Lathan says that rest and relaxation are crucial components to her beauty and skincare regimens.

“I like long Shiatsu massages and going into the sauna. I like to do a rotation from the sauna to the cold pool for 45 minutes, which is really amazing for your skin,” Sanaa told Real Beauty.

Regina King: Eating Healthy + Staying Fit

Actress Regina King revealed that she maintains her youthful and vibrant glow by maintaining a healthy diet and keeping in shape.

“You know, just – I get it in where I can fit it in. I do work out but you know what? I’m blessed with great arms from my father. So I will have to say that I’m kind of lucky that way. But I do work out – I work my lower body out, often. I eat what I want, but I don’t eat what I want all the time. So I give myself like a day or two, depending on what’s going on in the week to get all of  that comfort food in me, but for the most part I try to eat healthy. You know, proteins, vegetables – not mixing my proteins and carbs – there are so many rules. We’re in L.A – juicing – all of that.”

LisaRaye McCoy: Drink Water!

The 46-year-old Single Ladies actress, LisaRaye McCoy, says that drinking water, staying hydrated and paying attention to your skin and health in general is very important.

“Don’t use soap on your face and moisturize extremely well. Drink plenty of water and exercise.

I’m training for a marathon right now and I’m drinking 96 ounces of water every day. I’m amazed by how such a small change could help my skin so much. I feel better than ever.”

Vivica Fox: Sun + Microdermabrasions

Last but certainly not least, there’s actress Vivica A. Fox, who told Bella magazine that her routine includes everything from soaking up some sun to oxygen facials and microdermabrasions.

“Age  isn’t something to be ashamed of. A woman should be proud of the wisdom that comes with each birthday.

I love to tan and soak up vitamin D, but I do so in moderation; I don’t fry my skin. But I’m also not the type to run from the sun and cover up every square inch. I love going to Miami and getting a tan. That feels healthy and pretty to me. To protect my skin I use SPF30 after just a little bit of time in the sun soaking up some vitamin D.

I also get microdermabrasions and oxygen facials once a month. Thank goodness for a great facialist who gets
in there and cleans off the dead layers on top of my skin.”

I am vigilant about hydrating my skin, too. My dermatologist prescribed a medicated moisturizer and I use that along with a skin toner.”
