Don’t Sleep! 9 Tyler Perry Movies That Aren’t That Bad

Madea’s Family Reunion (2006)

You probably didn’t think Madea was going to show up on this list but here she is! Of all of Tyler Perry’s movies, Madea’s Family Reunion is my favorite. I know several will disagree because all of the things people hate about Tyler Perry films can be found in this film. There’s the super preachy message when Maya Angelou and Cicely Tyson tell their younger family members to wake up, know their history and do better. Madea is all the way live fighting school kids on the bus and beating the little girl (Keke Palmer), she so unselfishly takes in. And there’s even an abusive man in the mix. But what I love about this movie is that it shows the prevalence of sexual abuse among families and how it can impact future relationships. Then there’s this absolutely beautiful wedding at the end in which Johnny Gill sings this really beautiful song “You For Me.”
