Wilma Rudolph
Regarded as one of the fastest women in the world in track and field during the 1960 Olympics with three gold medals, Wilma Rudolph overcame many hardships in her life, from being born premature, to having a left leg brace during childhood because of polio. While in school in her home state of Tennessee, she was initiated into the Alpha Chi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at Tennessee State University. She passed away in 1994 due to brain cancer.
