There’s no shortage of gay rumors surrounding Hollywood men and one individual who’s usually on the receiving end of all that talk is Ne-Yo. The singer/songwriter has fought off homosexual rumors ever since he burst on the scene in 2006, and even posing alongside the mother of his children on the cover of the September issue of Sister 2 Sister he’s still trying to downplay talk that he’s not upfront about his true sexual preference.

When asked about all the rumors, Ne-Yo said this:

“There’s so many more important and positive things going on in my life, the last thing I’m going to do is focus on somebody that’s still on some ignorance with the whole gay rumor thing,” he told the mag.

“If that’s what y’all want to feel about me, by all means do so. Pay no attention to the fact that I got two kids and a beautiful woman at my side. … Buy the album, though.”

That last part was funny.

These days, Ne-Yo does seem a lot less effeminate than when he first started making a name for himself—you know the doo-rag over the eyebrows, hyper-glossy lip days. Exhibit A:

Now, he’s definitely settled into his grown man look at 32 as a proud father of two children he’s managed to keep out of the public eye thus far. Even he and Monyetta keep a low profile, which to some makes her look just like a cover up, but in reality is a smart thing to do in an industry that will still find some reason to tear you apart no matter what you do. Naturally, whenever a discussion turns to homosexual entertainers, Frank Ocean is now brought into the mix. When asked how he felt about the singer’s coming out, Ne-Yo told S2S:

“I definitely feel like it’s very brave for him to be able to go, ‘This is me; either love me or leave me alone.’ I dig that.”

I pretty sure he feels the same way about the gay rumors following him. Do you think it’s weird people assume Ne-Yo’s gay?
