The Black Wives of MLB

Though there aren’t many black players in baseball nowadays, there are still many who still play the game. Thanks to the popularity of shows like Basketball Wives, VH1 just produced the show Baseball Wives. However there aren’t any black wives starring on the show. Here is a list of the  women behind some of the major baseball players that you may or may not know.

“CC” Sabathia and Amber Sabathia

Carsten Charles “CC” Sabathia has played for the Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers, and now for the New York Yankees. They have 2 sons and 2 daughters together.

Jimmy Rollins and Johari Smith

Rollins first started off in the minor leagues, and then in the major league. He has played for the Philadelphia Phillies.  Smith was his trainer. They got married on January 23, 2010 in Caymen Islands.

Orlando Hudson and Kesia Hudson

Hudson currently plays for the San Diego Padres.

Torii and Katrina Hunter

Smith currently  plays for the Los Angeles Angels. He started off his career with the Minnesota Twins in 1997.

Ron Washington and Gerry Washington

Washington is the manger for the Texas Rangers. He made is MLB debut back in 1977 when he played for the Los Angles Dodgers. Since then he has played for four other teams and coached one. He became the manger for the Texas Rangers in 2007.

Gary Sheffield and DeLeon Richards

Former baseball player, Gary Sheffield has played for eight professional teams, last playing for the New York Mets. DeLeon is a Grammy nominated gospel singer. Together they have three sons.

Miguel and Alejandra Tejada

Married since 1995, Mrs. Tejada attempted to launch a Spanish pop career a few years back. Her husband Miguel, who hails from the Dominican Republic, has played for the Oakland Athletics,  Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants.
