Be a volunteer
One of the best ways to assess a non-profit is to volunteer for them. You’ll get an inside look at what goes on, how money is spent, how things are organized, and so on. It’s hard for a non-profit to hide much from you if you volunteer for them. There is certain inside info you need just to get your tasks done.
