The problem with Devil’s Advocate

The climax of this episode came when Molly went head to head against Andrew’s annoying ass older brother. When a hotel worker denies Molly access to towels because she doesn’t have her key card, Andrew’s brother comes along to save the day. But once they’re back in the pool, he immediately dismisses Molly’s legit concern that she was treated unfairly because she was a Black. After all, the White couple in front of her didn’t have any issues and they also did not have a key card. For one reason or another, instead of just taking Molly’s experiences for what she said they were—as  Black woman, he wanted to argue that maybe the woman was “just doing her job.”

The whole thing turns into a discussion about Asians not speaking out against racism of other minority groups—particularly Black people—until it affects their community specifically. She assigned the statement to all Asians which rubbed Andrew the wrong way. Still, he defended her and went after her once she stormed out of the pool.
