How Well They Take Care of Their Children
I’m sure Chris Brown is not there for the day-to-day stuff when it comes to his daughter Royalty. Still, when the two are together, they seem to share a strong bond. It’s clear they know and love one another. Still, Nia Guzman, the mother of his child, had to take him to court because he wasn’t paying child support. (Later, she said these reports were false.) Loving your child means keeping them in the standard of living you also enjoy–not just throwing cash sporadically during scheduled visits.
Fidelity
I don’t think anyone can say that Chris Brown has been faithful to any of the girlfriends we knew about. It was said to be the reason he and Rihanna got into their infamous altercation in 2009 and the baby I referenced above, is the one he conceived when he was still dating Karrueche.
Abuse
Uhh yeah. It’s a problem. We all know about the incident with Rihanna. There was the restraining order Karrueche took out against him when their relationship ended. She claimed that he threatened her life and once punched her in the stomach during their relationship. There were also reports that Chris has a penchant for fighting the people who work in his camp as well. But more than the physical abuse, Brown has a control issue as well. We saw it in the comments he left under Karrueche’s picture with Victor Cruz. And before that, we saw it with him following her around L.A. trying to get her back, threatening her friends in the process. It’s clear that since 2009, Chris has yet to get the help he really needs.
Misogynistic Thoughts
Physical and emotional abuse of women is pretty misogynistic. Cheating repeatedly and then releasing a song saying “These H*es Ain’t Loyal” is also pretty tragic.
Anti Blackness
Until a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn’t have believed Chris had a problem with Blackness. I’ve noticed the women he dates all share similar hues–but this is how most Black men in Hollywood get down. It wasn’t until his “Black b*tches with nice hair” lyric that I realized there’s a deeper problem there. Not only did Chris sing it, when confronted with the implications of this type of message going out to the world, Chris responded by calling Black women–the fanbase that has held him down–ugly. We struck a nerve. And of course, Brown wasn’t willing to do any self reflection or correction. There are also several reports that Chris doesn’t allow dark skinned women into his VIP section. Not surprising but definitely anti Black.
Financial Responsibility
For all of the legal fees he’s paid over the years, violating his probation several times over, it’s clear that he’s not making the best of all the money he’s had coming in since he was a teenager. Not that he’s bound to run out any time soon. But when you’re such a polarizing figure, it would have behooved him to keep his nose clean because you never know when checks can stop. Also, as I mentioned above, the court having to tell you to pay what you owe in child support is shameful.
