Today is Cardi B‘s birthday, and the star has plenty to celebrate. She’s a new mom, she just racked up her third number one hit, and earlier this week she took home three American Music Awards. Did I forget to mention that she’s a millionaire?

She’s certainly come a long way. But as much as things change, they stay the same, too. Like Cardi’s face. She’s looked the same since birth, and that’s evident from all the pictures she’s shared from her childhood on social media over the years. She has had the same amount of personality that she has now since she was but a wee girl growing up in the Bronx. And it’s a wonder that she maintained it with some of her struggles.

“It was a degular life,” she said of life in the Bronx in a past interview with Global Grind. “I have real good parents. They poor, they had regular poor jobs…they’re real good people and everything. I was just raised in a bad society. I like what I see. I always wanted to be something was going to make me have money. All I know is what my teachers told me to do: ‘Oh, be a teacher! Be a this! Be a that!’ So I went to college but I got kicked out [of the house] when I was 18…I was forced practically to move in with my ex-boyfriend, my first boyfriend actually. And you know what? Every girl, I think, wants to move in with their boyfriend — until you’re living with them. Especially if you’re living with their mama, they two pitbulls and their sister and whatever. And they start stealing your little schmoney, and you can’t eat, and then you start getting beat.”

And we know from there, Cardi went from working in an Amish market to stripping at a club across the street after being fired. But we also know she didn’t stay there. She is now one of the biggest artists on the planet, and she’s never been ashamed of her humble beginnings. Take a look at photos from those years in honor of her 26th birthday:
