On December 9 of 2017, LeToya Luckett said “I do” and became Mrs. LeToya Luckett-Walker, marrying her love, Tommicus Walker. But aside from receiving a soulmate to grow with and love forever, marriage also brought her the responsibility of being a mother. Tommicus has a young daughter named Madison, and as Luckett transparently shared on Instagram recently, she was worried about whether or not she would be successful in both of her new roles.
“As I recently walked into this new chapter of my life as a Wife & a mother-in-Love of a beautiful little girl- the worry began to knock at my front door,” she wrote. “Am I built for this? I’ve never been a mommy. My cooking skills are so ,so. My fresh smoothie game is aaiiiight. So I gotta share…everything? Will he still love me if? These are all the thoughts that started to flood my mind 😫 overwhelmed with worry instead of seeing the blessing that God had actually givin me far & beyond what I’ve prayed for all of these years.”
“Welp! Today I choose to STOP THE WORRY & put on my new crown as a WARRIOR!!” she continued. “A prayer WARRIOR for my family! A WARRIOR FOR GOD! I can literally feel a new strength come over me as I write this! My mom always said , “ worry is sin” now I get it. God forgive me. Lead me! I bind up worry & fear & I will TRUST YOU with my whole heart. -Mrs. Walker”
Just a few weeks after writing about leaving behind being a worrier for the perks of being a prayer warrior for her new family, it seems that Luckett has been fully embracing her role as a mom, or “mother-in-love.” The 36-year-old showed that by showering her stepdaughter with love for her sixth birthday on Wednesday. The singer shared videos and pictures of quality time with the child, as well as a heartwarming message. In it, she talks about growing up and always wanting to have a daughter named Madison, and how much of an honor it will be for Luckett to “get to spend the rest of my life watching you grow into a beautiful woman”:
