Monica had to dodge rumors all this year that she would be a part of the “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” cast before the series premiered this summer. But now she may inadvertently be apart of the show if reports that her ex, Rocko, being added to the cast turn out to be true.

According to the Singersroom, Celeb N’ Music broke the news that Rocko is slated to be apart of season 2 alongside our favorite characters from season 1 like Stevie J and Joseline. The purpose is reportedly for the rapper/producer to promote his music but we know how much of that happens on that show. His storyline will no doubt revolve around the fact that he has two sons with singer Monica who also reps the A. And since most people who join these reality shows never come out without their reputation being scarred, I’m inclined to believe reports that Monica isn’t too happy about this news.

A very cryptic message is the only “evidence” supporting reports that Monica doesn’t want her ex on this show. When the news went viral she sent out a tweet that read:

Be very careful not to mistake the devil’s gifts for blessings. The devil knows how to grant u with what u want!! God grants u with what u need!! The righteous walk isn’t always easy but the end result is everlasting life. Which do u choose?

I feel that could just be one of those daily inspirational quotes, but you just never know. Besides, Rocko sent out a tweet that could be interpreted as a response to hers when he said:

“WHATS FOR ME IS FOR ME!!!!! YOU CANT STOP IT!!!!! I STAY PRAYED UP!!!!!

I just hope what’s for him won’t be bad for his children. I would hate for them to turn on the TV and see their daddy acting a fool on VH1. I’m pretty sure Monica would block any inclusion of them on the show and herself as well. But it would be interesting to see more about Rocko and what kind of man he is. What do you think?

Aren’t Monica’s kids just too cute for school? Rodney Jr. (to the left) and Romelo (to the right), fitted caps in tow, posed it up for pictures recently. The boys were also snapped stunting in front of a Lambo and Ferrari before getting ready to head out with their mom. I’m digging that they tried to match their outfits to the cars. The serious face on both boys is too cute. Or am I getting the Tyra Banks-approved smize?

Rapper Game posted some cute pics of his kids recently. The above is of his son, King, wearing his dad’s jewels (which the rapper claim his son took while he was asleep), and the rest are pics of his first-born son Harlem and daughter, Cali Dream, as they went to Sea World and helped his baby girl celebrate her birthday at the San Diego Zoo. Most times when when we hear about Monica and Shannon’s relationship and love for each other, it’s from the perspective of the Atlanta songstress. But yesterday in a cute couple move, the Brown’s appeared on VH1′s Morning Buzz and we got to see a little bit of their magic together up close and personal.

Though a lot of the convo centered on Shannon’s career, how they feel about the Olympics, and why Monica cant swim, when the host asked Shannon how he feels sitting in the audience watching Monica perform he said this:

“I’m always in awe. I wonder how such a powerful voice can come out of such a tiny body. Every time I see her it’s crazy.”

Monica said she returns the favor at her hubby’s games.

“I’m screaming. I’m outrageous. I’m energetic like that….”

The couple also completed in a few love games and showed off their healthy matrimonial competition. Check out the clips below.

As her music reveals, Monica has been through it in terms of relationships. But when she met Lakers’ player Shannon Brown in June of 2010 while shooting her “Love All Over Me” video, her luck definitely changed. Life imitated art and the love interest in that video became the love interest of her life.

They dated, got engaged, and married all in less than six months. Theirs was a whirlwind romance, but definitely seems to be going strong nearly two years later.

During the Radio One Fest, Monica sat down with TT Torez of iPowerRichmond and talked about her love life. HelloBeautiful reports:

We met on the set of my video shoot “Love All Over Me,” reflects Monica.”That was the first time I had ever laid eyes on him, but I knew it wouldn’t be the last. It was instantaneous. He was very genuine. He’s so easy on the eyes. You kind of get over the outer appearance doing what I do after a while,” she continued.

“It doesn’t take that long in this business, you see how ugly people are on the inside, so with him is was really interesting I think to me that the first time we met he was talking about his grandmother.”

The “It All Belongs To Me” singer was wary of their connection at first. “I fought a lot of it because I was a single mom with two small boys so I was fighting it. I stated praying for confirmation,” she tells TT.

“Sometimes as a woman you have to be OK with not knowing all the answers. I started asking for confirmation and I enjoyed every second with him instead of thinking so much and try to map out how it should be. I sat back and let him be a man and let him lead him into what we are now.”

Well, that plan looks like it definitely worked out for her! She didn’t say what her “confirmation” was. Him proposing, maybe?

Of course, you can’t date someone in the league without encountering rumors, but these two seem to have weathered them pretty well. For those wanting an inside look at the love that started with just one look, Monica has already said there won’t be a “Monica and Shannon Brown” reality show, so keep dreaming. That’s good for them though cause we know that reality shows tend to destroy marriages. It looks like they’re in it  for the long haul.

The stars of Black Hollywood were aligned last night in Los Angeles at the 2012 BET Awards. With Samuel L. Jackson at the helm, the best in the business got to party on one of music’s biggest nights. Kanye West took the stage, D’Angelo returned sounding better than ever, and Cissy Houston delivered an emotional gospel tribute to her fallen star, Whitney Houston. Glam gowns like Bey‘s and Mariah‘s seemed to be the look of the night, but La La Anthony and Monica rocked out in pants just as lovely.

Not only was the show one of the most enjoyable nights in BET Awards history, it was also one of the most stylish.

If you didn’t catch the BET Awards show last night, you truly missed out. That’s normally not the sentiment one feels after spending four hours watching the network, but yesterday BET showed that all of the viewers’ graveling over the past few years was well worth it because the folks behind the annual production definitely stepped their game up.

There were a few moments everybody anticipated before last night’s show like D’Angelo hitting the stage and an expected Whitney Houston tribute, but both were better than anyone imagined (although the bar was already set pretty low). Mr. Brown Sugar took us back to his “Untitled” Days, performing “How Does it Feel” and Mariah Carey hit the stage to introduce the Whitney Houston tribute and talk about their friendship, followed by performances from Monica, who took us straight to church, Brandy, Chaka Khan, and Cissy Houston, who amazingly belted out “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” in memory of her daughter.

BET got the Maze and Frankie Beverly tribute right too, with Joe, Tyrese, and Faith Evans singing  a few tunes before the band hit the stage themselves. Kanye also opened up the show with his G.O.O.D Music, “Lamborghini Mercy” crew, Yolanda Adams and Amber Bullock tore up the Gospel Sundays segment, and Chris Brown only lip synched through half of his performance. All in all, this year’s festivities were a major improvement over previous years.

We’re not sure how much of that $10,000 came out of whose wallet, but we bet the majority of the cash was courtesy of “Southern Hospitality” rapper Ludacris.’

Wednesday night, he and his lady, Eudoxie, Monica, rapper Lil Scrappy, and DJ Infamous made it rain car payments, house notes, and school loans at Diamonds of ATL in the good ol’ dirty.

Though we’ve seen time and time again, Atlanta entertainers feel there’s no need for a special occasion to prove it ain’t trickin’ on strippers if you got it, the A-listers did come out for a purpose that night. They were there to celebrate Imfamouses’ 10-year anniversary as a DJ.

As you can see from the pics, the dancers weren’t the only ones working up a sweat. Luda was clearly perspiring over all of the T&A surrounding him, or perhaps it was the thought of dropping that kind of cash when he hasn’t had an album release or movie role in years. What he did have was a book bag stuffed with singles strapped tightly to his chest to make sure the strippers were the only one’s who reaped what he sowed. TMZ also has more pics of the hilarious expressions on his face as he threw out cash. He clearly had a good night.

FYI, if Ludacris becomes one of those dudes crying broke 10 years from now, these photos will be thrown back in his face. Also, Monica’s hubby Shannon Brown was nowhere to be found which makes me wonder if she don’t play that.

There’s been a rash of celebrities renewing their wedding vows as of late, and just last week Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon did so at the Eiffel Tower in luxurious fashion. Tori Spelling, Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum and LeAnn Rimes are other famous faces who have chosen to walk down the aisle multiple times with their spouses to renew their vows. Everyday couples also commemorate their anniversaries with commitment ceremonies with the passing of each year. On the surface, the gesture is romantic.

Couples shouldn’t be begrudged for taking the time to rejoice in another year of marital bliss. At the alarming rate of spiking divorces in this country, unions that are thriving should be celebrated. Marriage is a 24/7 commitment that offers the highs and lows of two people sharing their lives as one. Love, for all of its different meanings to people, is an action. It takes active work to make a marriage function. There are daily sacrifices and hurt feelings that are absorbed for the sake of the other person, and it’s no longer an “I,” but a “we,” which means give and take. If having a big party once a year to toast the effort helps, so be it.  If you have the money to spend or wish to go bankrupt in order to keep up, by all means, do so.

However, when you look at the celebrities walking down the aisle over and over, there’s an underlying issue of whether these couples are genuinely celebrating their love or attempting to prove a point about how happy they are. It all seems sincere, but there’s the lingering suspicion that it is all for show. To be in the public eye, the famous have to carry themselves a certain way and project a particular image. Those optics often include making people believe they’re in the perfect marriage. There are the cynics who raise the point that many of these celebrity vow renewals are just grabs for attention, when in reality, things aren’t so peachy keen. In Hollywood, if you can make it past the one year benchmark, that does deserve some recognition given the relationship turnover rate. However, there’s something about constantly having these ceremonies that doesn’t come off genuine. We get it. You’re happy. Do you really need to continuously prove it to everybody else?

On a smaller scale, John and Jane might also want to keep nosy neighbors out of their business by keeping up the pretenses. No one wants to be talked about behind their backs and neighborhood gossip can be just as vicious as public rebukes.

‘Doin’ the most’ isn’t just an expression that flows from the lips. It’s an observation that the eyes can see. It traces back to the first wedding itself. Many opt for grand affairs that resonate for a day at the expense of commitments that are meant to hold until death. For instance, Heidi Klum and Seal are such an example. For every year of their marriage, they renewed their vows and led the world to believe that it was only getting better. Now, they are in the midst of a divorce and many are asking if the vow renewals were just a Band-Aid to their fracturing dynamic; grasping at remnants of their original special day to rekindle a fading flame.

Ultimately, to each their own. Grown people will do what they want to do and there’s no set right or wrong way to honor an anniversary. But at the very least, it should be for the right reasons.  There’s no point in going all out for one day if that same effort isn’t being put in all year round.

While most of us are so done with Ray J’s antics at this point, and have been for some time, Brandy is defending her little brother to the death just like any big sister should. Next month, she and Monica cover Ebony’s music issue and inside she talks about the rumors surrounding her brother’s character and insists people just don’t understand him.

“I know who he is. And I”m pissed off about some of the things I’ve been hearing. It really bothers me that [those are] the kind of things that people do for money,” she told the magazine.

“He’s misunderstood. It’s one thing to have this image of [a ladies' man], but it’s another to become this other type of person that they’re trying to make my brother out to be. I know who he is. This is a man who loves his mama and his sister and his niece. Ray J loved Kim Kardashian. They were irresponsible with their–you know–but he loved her. For five years, he was with her.  In his mind and in the world’s mind, he was in my shadow for such a long time. To watch his sister become whatever I became and to not have that same path or that same way it happened for me; to be called ‘Brandy’s brother…’ To finally break out of it, you’re going to brag; you’re going to feel something about yourself. It’s not coming from a bad place, and I can tell you: Some of the shoes Ray J’swalking in, you’d take off immediately. You wouldn’t be able to handle the type of shoes he’s in.”

I’m sure Ray J does feel some type of way being in his sister’s successful shadow but at 31 years old most people are thinking it’s time for him to grow up and do something with the money he’s making from his new deal selling Prince Reigns Shaving Serum besides search for women on TV and write tell-all books.

Troubled little brother aside, Brandy also talked about the other special man in her life, her boyfriend Ryan, and she wasn’t hesitant to say she’s ready to be Mrs. Press.

“I wish we were engaged. He’s taking a little long on the ring side of things, but I’m patient.  I wanted to impress him. I wanted him to be proud of me; I was inspired by him. So making the record and his being there, it’s just all a part of it. Him and my daughter. I want him to love my songs. I want him to love my voice.”

Maybe when he sees the next issue of Ebony he’ll pick up on that not-so-subtle hint.
