Is Rihanna Throwing Racial Shade at Karrueche?

March 5th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

The Rihanna-Chris Brown-Karrueche Tran triangle just got a whole lot messier—maybe. Last night, Rihanna tweeted a seemingly innocent and playful, yet potentially shady instagram of a rice cake dressed up with shades and gold hoops to look like a person with the caption, “Ima make you my b****,” and the blogosphere is going wild.

Why is this different from any other immature pop star playing with her food? Well, Karrueche Tran is half Asian, Asians are known to eat rice cakes as part of their cuisine (not the Quaker Oats kind), and I’m assuming the wanna-be model has worn gold hoops at some point in her life. So yeah, it’s a stretch to think Rihanna is throwing shots at Karrueche with this pic in some ways, and in others not so much.

When one of Rih Rih’s followers asked her to save some rice cakes for him, she replied [they're] “Kinda DRY tho.” Some are taking that as a reference to Karrueche’s lady business, but anybody who’s ever eaten a rice cake—the Quaker Oats kind—knows they really are dry. *Shrug* I wouldn’t put this subliminally suspect pic past Rihanna, but like I said earlier, it’s a stretch.

What do you think? Is this media-instigated drama or is Rihanna throwing shots?

and if rihanna is talking about karrueche when she say sweeter than a rice cake than chris is a “great boyfriend ” to karrueche for being in the song isn’t he lmao

  • teelo

umm rihanna has never said or acted like she was anyone’s romodel…so wannabe i think not…If ppl want romodels for thier kids have them watch Disney channel…rihanna is not responsible for being anyone’s romodel so why are ppl always acting like she’s so horrible for living it up…get over it by now…rihanna is young bad rich and she don’t care….I don’t see ppl harassing other rock n pop stars and celebrities for being a “role model”

By no means am I a Rihanna fan, but this picture doesn’t make her a racist. Karrueche made a YouTube video mocking Rihanna’s Bajan accent so Rihanna retaliated by depicting her as a bag of rice cakes. Childish on both ends. End of story.

Rihanna never had any kind of moral, and is jealous of Karrueche!. she’s got this jealous-type attitude, we clearly spot through that racist pic. Although i’m really sorry for the Asian community, We shouldn’t be offended by this lame!. Look at her she’s mostly known to be a slore and her career will be definitely over in a couple of years!. Asian rules!. xD

She was refering to her song “Birthday Cake”. In the chorus she says “Imma make you my b-”. Listen to the lyrics and you’ll see and hear for yourself. She probably not even thinkin bout that girl. Lol

People, get real.  This tweet was OBVIOUSLY racist.  If someone tweeted Rihanna a pic of a watermelon with shades and earrings we would know that was clearly racist.  Come on now.

Plus, I don’t know what’s sadder: this childish, racist tweet or the fact that two grown women are throwing shade at each other over a man who beat one of them.  SMH…

It’s obvious Rihanna is dieting, and almost anyone on a diet knows that dieters eat rice cakes!  The “I’m going to make you my b****” is probably a play on words when referencing the rice cakes, meaning, she will be eating them all the time while dieting.  A “you will do it for me” type of this.  Getting something racial out of this statement is really a stretch, but it does keep Rihianna in the news, and she is promoting her new music.

yea….i think someone read way to into this…

Maybe Rihanna should date Floyd Mayweather, since both seemed to be racist, and shoud no better, with all our people went through, and still going through, grow up, IMHA I think her’s and CB fight she had a lot more to do with it, than just what was said, she’s not the girl with think she is, listening to her some of her other music-songs, saying the N word, talking about killing, she is just another tradegy waiting to happen.

and ya’ll just propagated it even more…

She is 24 already, she needs to grow up. Asians don’t even eat rice cakes as part of their diet and many parts of the world eat rice as a staple in their diet. She is acting like she has no class and is desperate.

OH pleaseeee  Riri ain’t throwing shade @  kaurreche. Plus it is from the lyric of her song called Birthday cake and it’s a shame that yall beileve  this story

  • Pivyque

I think people are taking it too seriously. In her song “Cake”, she says “sweeter than a rice cake” or something like that, so it doesn’t seem like she’s throwing shade to me.
