ATLANTA, Ga. – Fit Neighborhood, a new group personal training studio for the entire family, today announced it will celebrate its official grand opening on Saturday, April 10. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local residents are invited to participate in a full-day of free fitness classes, including Zumba, step aerobics and yoga, as well as games, health screenings and a giveaway for three months of free group personal training.

Launched by  challenge and motivate themselves and each other. Vastly different from traditional gym settings, participants often workout in pairs or teams to promote community-building and healthy competition.

“Our goal is to provide a support system for families who want to adopt a healthier lifestyle, and give them the tools and resources to develop an effective fitness regimen and a network of other families who have similar goals,” said Meika Louis-Pierre, certified personal fitness trainer and youth fitness specialist. “The network is essential to staying on track and accountable, and it’s also key to building and shaping ‘fit neighborhoods.’ We want the whole community to get involved and collectively commit to better health for ourselves and for our children.”

Fit Neighborhood currently offers a wide variety of fitness classes and group personal training sessions six days a week. Childcare is offered for evening classes to help accommodate parents. The studio also hosts grocery shopping tours to help families learn to read nutrition labels and plan better meals, and serves as the new home of South Atlanta Adventure Boot Camp, one of the city’s most popular high-energy, group fitness programs.

Fit Neighborhood is committed to the health of Atlanta’s children and combating childhood obesity. Most fitness classes are open to kids 12 and up. Fit Family Baby caters specifically to moms and kids ages 0 to 5, and Fit Family caters to parents and children ages 6-11. Off-season conditioning is also available for middle school and high school student athletes, both male and female.

“In order to build healthy communities, fitness has to be a priority for the entire family, including our children, no matter how small,” said Louis-Pierre, mother of two. “When we model healthy behaviors for young children and encourage them to be active, they are more likely to continue to make healthy lifestyle choices throughout their adulthood. That’s our best defense against obesity in both children and adults.”

Fit Neighborhood is located at 5495 Cascade Road, S.W., Suite 109, at Fulton Industrial Boulevard. For more information, visitwww.fitneighborhood.com or call (404) 549-8785.
