After having a less than cordial relationship last year, with people accusing Ne-Yo of moving on too fast and Crystal Renay of rubbing their marriage in Monyetta Shaw’s face, it seems that the singer, Renay, and Shaw have let bygones be bygones. The trio have come together as a blended family. No more talk of tubes burned, past commitment struggles, or Instagram shade — they’re on another level these days. This was evident after all three showed up at Stars and Strikes bowling center in Atlanta this past weekend. They were present to celebrate the birthdays of daughter Madilyn, who turns six on November 12, and Mason, who turned five last month.

“The party was a success because our kids had a great time,” Ne-Yo told Us Weekly. “That’s what it’s all about. No beef, no bad blood, no shade … we are grown. This is what it looks like when grown-ups act like adults.”

The trio were joined by famous friends like Kandi Burruss, Phaedra Parks, and Keshia Knight Pulliam. Both kids and adults alike participated in bowling, laser tag, and arcade games.

Shaw said that they’ve been doing joint birthdays for Madilyn and Mason for the last couple of years. They recently started doing it with Renay fully involved to be the strongest unit possible for their children, including Renay and Ne-Yo’s 7-month-old son Shaffer.

“Ever since the M’s 2nd and 3rd birthday, Ne-Yo and I decided on a joint party for them because of dad’s busy schedule and the fact that their birthdays are close,” she said. “They actually love it because they are pretty much inseparable and BFFs. So we’ve made it our little tradition. … It was important for us to throw their birthday party together, as we have before, to continue to set a positive example for our kids and to let them know that no matter what, they are loved and celebrated.”

Shaw said that all parties involved have made it a priority to be positive and treat each other respectfully.

“I understand that some exes can’t get along or stand to be in the same place with each other, but we have made a conscious decision not to be those people,” she said. “We understand that respect for one another is important, even if we don’t see eye to eye on a situation. We figure it out as adults and ultimately come to a resolve. It is so important to coparent positively because that will determine the mind-set of our kids in the long run. They are the bigger picture. We do it for them.”

Renay co-signed all the love on Instagram. She said, “Nothing but love, fun and positivity! The kids really enjoyed having everyone there. Blended families are FLY.”

They join other celebrity blended families like that of Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and Mashonda Tifrere, who have come together after complicated beginnings for the sake of all children involved. Kudos!
