Most of us know AJ Johnson from her days busting a move in House Party and playing Jody’s take-no-sh-t mom in Baby Boy, but these days, Johnson, 53, has made a name for herself as a successful wellness and life coach. Her services have even been enlisted by fellow celebrities, including Gabrielle Union, Anne Hathaway and Lindsay Lohan. And not only is being a wellness coach for Johnson about a sound mind, but it’s also about having a strong and healthy body. That’s why she works out extensively. You can even catch her teaching dance classes and lifting weights throughout her Instagram page, and it has clearly paid off. Johnson showed off all her hard work on the cover of BFW magazine (Beauty, Fitness & Wellness), posing nude and without the photoshop and filters that we’ve come to expect when we look at images of famous folks on the covers of publications. She embraced her curves and her blemishes, stating that they’ve all made her the woman she is today:

#Nofilter #Noedits #noretouching Because we live in a time where real, inside and out, is replaced by so much fake that I wanted you to know that real DOES exist. Because I wanted to be an example of accepting that I am fabulously flawed and need NO filters…. On how I think nor how I look. Because my mosquito bite and chicken pox scars-baseball and gymnastic bruises left life long marks that are a part of what made me the woman I am today- to cover them would mean you cover me… I wear my scars with more pride than any designer clothes. Because my tattoo represents my vine of growth-the rose I have become- the woman I blossom into with each valley – each challenge- each heartbreak and broken dream I survive. Thank you #bfwmagazine for stepping outside the box and not putting me in one. THIS is MY #nakedtruth On stands and online now.

Johnson also spoke on cultivating her body to be where she wants it to be, not how other people think it should be. So while some have tried to say that she looks “like a man” due to her muscle tone, she is proud to be a fit woman. And most of all, she’s happy–and happy to be healthy.

#wisdomWednesday #nofilter #noretouch #noedit I feel like I'm on divine assignment to be an example of better health -mind, body and soul. I take that assignment very seriously so my mental discipline, my unwavering spirit and the body I am building is my testimony. I know my choices are not for every body, but that's just it… I'm not asking ANYONE to look like me… I'm simply an example of what my best me is for ME, and hope I can motivate just 1 person to be a better version of themselves FOR themselves. I want women to know that no belly- no back fat – no cellulite and a nice ass IS possible, NATURALLY. Listen…LOL!!! I hear it all "I look like a man", " it's too much" but mostly from women. To them I say their opinions and judgements aren't important. What's most important is not how you feel about ME but how you feel about yourself. THIS is MY #NakedTruth #happyhumpday #bfwmagazine On stands and online now.

She better do it! And to know she’s looking this fierce at 53, it’s just the motivation I think we need to keep working on getting right and staying tight. Check out a few more images of the beauty from her BFW photo shoot, showing off all of her hard work, and doing her thing as a wellness coach below:

From an upcoming story for #BFWmagazine #Thenakedtruth…. My testimony is simple… I didn't have my mom long but I had her strong. In only 16 years, deep in my soul, she planted a life time of a strong will and a soft heart. A passion to help others and an undying desire to be of service. She gave me the safety net to be me with no apologies from the athlete to the dancer- to the goofy and clumsy me to the book worm😂🤓 I live my life determined- daily-to uphold all that I am because of her -trying to be even half the woman she was. I miss her daily- but I'm so very grateful to have had even just 16 yrs with such an amazing soul. She said when I was 16… I could do and be whatever I wanted and to look only for God's validation. Today and everyday… I wonder…what she'd say…
