Most celebrities who make the best-dressed list owe big thanks to their celebrity stylists (individuals who can charge upwards of $8,000 per day). It’s not that they don’t have any fashion sense. It’s just that premieres, press junkets, and countless late night interviews leave most celebs too busy to piece together a wardrobe that’s all their style and always camera ready.
To pick out every piece of clothing you wear for your appearances, you have to really love fashion. And these celebrities do. They’re so into choosing their own looks that they don’t even use a stylist, and sometimes, not even a personal shopper! And whether they land on the best or worst-dressed list, they love that their fashion choices are all their own.
Can you guess who you’re going to find on this list? And can you spot any celebrities who should maybe consider the $8,000 price tag because they shouldn’t be dressing themselves?

It’s no surprise that Badu’s style is as eclectic as her music. The singer recently told Vogue that both are homegrown:
“I make no distinction between what I wear on the street and the stage; it’s all just my style. I don’t work with a stylist, and I never plan what I’m going to wear, it’s always an of-the-moment thing.”
Olivia Munn
Olivia Munn said that she dresses sans stylist because if she’s going to get a ticket from the fashion police, she wants it to be on her own terms.
“I feel like if I’m going to fall, I’d rather it be on me.” But with this kind of print sense, she’s got nothing to worry about!
Blake Lively
The Gossip Girl star doesn’t use a stylist, but she does get advice from her famous designer friends. She told Elle magazine, “When I’m going to an event, I’ll send Christian (Louboutin) a picture of my outfit and say, ‘What shoes do you think I should wear with this?’” Must be amazing.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook said his unique style is all his own. Where does he find his signature looks? He told ESPN, “I do a lot of shopping online. I know people in LA, New York, everywhere. On road trips I’ll go to the mall on my own or sometimes with our security guy, [Mike] Flash. I like Zara, Barneys, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges from the U.K. Nordstrom, sometimes.”
He continued, “I do a lot of bargain shopping at outlets, too, high end and low end…[F]or some reason my eyes shift toward them when I’m shopping. It catches my eye. That’s probably why I like it. If I see a black shirt and then I see a polka-dotted black shirt, I’m going with that one.”
But he’s not 100 percent responsible for the finished look. When in doubt, Westbrook said he also likes to ask his mom for help.
Michelle Obama
The First Lady has the confidence to be comfortable in everything from high-fashion couture to Target brand clothing. And while she takes suggestions from famous designers, she’s done all of her styling herself and insiders say she hasn’t changed up after almost eight years.
January Jones
Even though the Mad Men star has been criticized for some of her red carpet gowns, Jones is determined to shake off her ’50s housewife image from the show and swap it out with bold fashion choices.

Solange
Somehow we’re not surprised that her impeccably eclectic style is all her own. But what we would like to know is when is Solange finally going to give us a fashion line?
Dita Von Teese
The burlesque star and fashion icon said that she not only chooses the pieces she is going to rock the red carpet in on her own, but she prefers to shop alone “without an entourage.”
Diane Krueger
As many times as the self-styled celebrity has made the best-dressed list, she could be a celebrity stylist.
Steve Aoki
Speaking of celebs turned stylists, it’s not surprising that musician Steve Aoki skips a stylist to pick pieces from his own wardrobe and the clothing line he shares with his siblings.
Diane Keaton
Diane Keaton’s signature look has always been outside the box, but it has always come from Keaton herself. She admits that she’s kind of an “odd ball” who likes to stray off the beaten path in fashion and in life!

Rachel Bilson
In 2010, the former The OC star told Vogue that when it comes to street style, she has too much fun dressing herself to let someone else do it:
“I really dress myself. I’ve been known to put a necklace in my hair. That’s what getting dressed should be. It’s about fun and experimenting. I think you either enjoy it or you don’t – and I do.”
But now that her star is on the rise, she has been known to tap a celebrity stylist or two to keep her look on point.
Camilla Belle
The star of The Ballad of Jack and Rose said she picks her gorgeous red carpet dresses herself, with the help of her mom.
Emmy Rossum
Shameless actress Emmy Rossum told The Huffington Post that she doesn’t use a stylist because she “just loves playing with clothes.”
