Ever since Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her Georgia home, there have been a lot of questions about how she ended up that way, Nick Gordon’s involvement in everything, and of course, the marriage between Bobbi and Nick, that according to Bobby Brown’s lawyer, wasn’t ever real. Since all the facts aren’t out and probably won’t be for some time about this tragedy and the confusion surrounding it, we wanted to share some facts about Gordon, who many have said they don’t know much about. Here are 10 things to know and remember about the 25-year-old.

Nick Gordon Was Taken In By Whitney Houston When He Was 12

Though never legally adopted by Whitney, she took Gordon in at a time when, according to The Huffington Post, his “birth mother could no longer care for him.” He was raised alongside Bobbi Kristina for more than a decade. Gordon has said in the past that Whitney “treated me like she gave birth to me,” and he has only called her “mom.”

He Wasn’t Included In Whitney’s Will

According to Forbes, when Whitney passed, she left everything to Bobbi Kristina as the sole beneficiary. She might have tried to include Gordon in an updated version of the will had she actually updated it sometime before her death, but the will was created and signed back in 1993, and the only amendment to it was made in 2000–before Nick started living with her, and while she was still married to Bobby Brown.

Now 21, Bobbi Kristina had just inherited 10 percent of her mother’s money through the trust set up for her, was going to get one-sixth of it at 25, and the rest at the age of 30.

He Works In The Tech Business

According to ABC News, through records they obtained, Gordon is reportedly a partner in a small tech company, but around the time of Whitney’s death, he was still living in the Houston family home near Atlanta.

He Has A Huge Tattoo For Whitney

On his wrist is a large tattoo of Whitney Houston’s initials with doves and crosses flying around it, as well as a picture of Houston that matches this photograph she took a few years ago. He got it done for the late singer’s birthday last year.

Was Asked To Look After Bobbi Kristina If Anything Happened To Whitney

According to Gordon, he said in an interview with “Extra” that Whitney had asked him to protect Bobbi Kristina if anything should happen to her. He said this last January:

“[Whitney] made me promise several times to look after Krissy. I will never, ever, ever break that promise.”

He Got Into A Fight With Gary Michael Houston, Bobbi’s Cousin

We all know that the Houston family wasn’t too keen on Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon’s relationship. And things got ugly between Gordon and Bobbi’s cousin, Gary Michael Houston, while at Pat Houston’s daughter’s 16th birthday party last year. The fight was allegedly about Gordon not being respectful of the family, with Gary confronting and then attacking him. They ended up airing one another out on social media afterwards:

Pat Houston Filed A Restraining Order Against Him

As you saw from Nick’s tweets on the last page, he has major issues with Pat Houston. Pat, who was Whitney’s manager and sister-in-law, filed a restraining order against Gordon after the fight at her daughter’s birthday party. He was ordered to stay 200 awards from her after she claimed that she feared for her safety because Gordon posted pictures of guns and allegedly made some threatening comments about her. Gordon has quite the appreciation for firearms (see his Twitter page for further examples). He told TMZ at the time that he “doesn’t give a f**k” about the order.

He’s Had Trouble While Behind the Wheel

Gordon and cars seem to be a bad mix. In August 2014, he was arrested for DUI after losing control of his BMW, hitting a curb, taking out a fire hydrant and flipping his car upside down. He walked away with no big injuries after the scary crash. And in 2012, he was accused of reckless driving and speeding, which according to ABC News, is a case that still seems to be open. It’s unclear after checking out paperwork in the Roswell, Georgia case, whether or not a plea deal was made in the DUI case, or if it was closed.

Relationship With His Biological Mom Is Not In A Good Place

According to RadarOnline, Nick Gordon’s biological mother has been trying to reach out to him to offer support as Bobbi Kristina lay in the hospital. Gordon’s cousin, Joseph David Savoy, told the publication that sadly, Gordon is not interested in trying to connect with her after all the years, especially not now:

“Nick’s mother is really hurt: She’s been trying to reach him to talk to him but he’s not taking her calls or answering her text messages.”

Cissy Gave Bobbi And Nick Her Blessing To Be Together

Although the Houston family has been very much against Bobbi and Nick’s union, which we would later find out through Bobby Brown’s lawyer, wasn’t a real marriage, Gordon said that it was Bobbi’s grandmother who finally gave her blessing and supported them when others didn’t. “We saw her at our cousin’s Sweet 16 and she gave us our blessing.”

Bobbi Kristina told “Extra” this:

“She told both of us that she loved us very, very, very much, and Nick came up and he said ‘Grandma, I want to marry her. Is it okay? I need your blessing to do this, if I don’t have your blessing I won’t feel right,’ and she looked at him and she smiled. She smiled very wide and said, ‘Yes, son, you have my blessing.'”
