When Gabrielle Union married Dwyane Wade last summer, she wed into an instant family. The Miami Heat superstar fought and won custody of his two sons with his first wife and college sweetheart and he also has custody of his sister’s son. During the course of his relationship with Union, they ended up taking a break and the NBA star fathered another child. He popped the question and proposed to Union soon after his third son was born. “He just asked me to commit to trying, to put our family back together, to make our family whole,” Union said. “The trying to do the work, led to doing the work, led to us thriving because of the work, which led to this amazing proposal where my family literally asked me to marry them.”

Tameka “Tiny” Cottle

T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle’s brood is a perfect example of a blended family. When Tiny first started dating the Atlanta rapper in 2001, he came into the relationship with a toddler and two newborn babies while the former Xscape singer had a daughter of her own. After the couple had two children of their own together, T.I. made an honest woman out of Tiny in an extravagant wedding that included fireworks in Miami Beach. Their entire family currently stars on the hit reality show “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle.”

Megan Fox

Megan Fox gave birth to her first child with hubby Brian Austin Green in 2012 but she’s had practice being a mother thanks to her stepson Kassius. The “Beverly Hills 90210” alum came into their relationship with his young son and Fox immediately assumed the role of a mother to him. “I am a stepmother to the fullest extent,” Fox said. “I am responsible [for him]. I’ve never struggled with that.”

Mary J. Blige

When Mary J. Blige finally found real love it was with music producer Kendu Isaac. He was already a father of three children from a previous marriage. Blige had no problems bonding with Isaac’s children. The “Right Now” singer has also publicly sung the praises of her stepchildren’s biological mother. “She’s a wonderful mother and the children are a result of what she is,” said Blige.

Khloe Kardashian

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom caught a lot of people by surprise when, after a month of dating, they tied the knot. But not everyone was happy about their quickie union. Odom came into the relationship with children from an ex-wife and his oldest daughter Destiny wasn’t too keen to have the reality star as a stepmother. And it didn’t catch her by surprise when Kardashian filed for a divorce four years later. Destiny was asked if she sad about her father’s impending divorce on social media and the teenager replied, “No one thought they were going to last, so honestly, who (cares).”

Kris Jenner

If Khloe Kardashian needed help being a stepmother to Lamar Odom’s children during their four-year union, then all she had to do was turn to her mother. Kris Jenner became a stepmother back when she married Bruce. The Olympic medalist had four children from two previous marriages. Kris had four of her own with first husband, the late high-powered attorney Robert Kardashian. After more than 20 years of marriage, Kris filed for a divorce from Bruce but the two have vowed to remain friends and committed to their family.

Gisele Bundchen

When supermodel Gisele Bundchen first started dating NFL quarterback Tom Brady, he was gearing up to become a father for the first time. His ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan was pregnant with their son Jack. Bundchen formed a bond with him since the day he was born. “It’s not like because somebody else delivered him, that’s not my child,” explained Bundchen, who’s gone on to have two kids with the New England Patriots superstar. “I feel it is, 100 percent. I already feel like he’s my son, from the first day.”

Porsha Williams

We were first introduced to Porsha Williams when she was happily married to Kordell Stewart. But the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star’s union was over when the former NFL star caught his soon-to-be ex-wife by surprise and filed for divorce. Their split was anything but amicable and Stewart accused her of being a horrible stepmother to his son Syre. He accused her of neglect and claimed he had to hire a nanny because Porsha refused to properly look after him.

Anna Paquin

Love blossomed on the set “True Blood” between co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. Paquin immediately adjusted to the life of a wife and stepmother to his two children Lilac and Billy from previous relationships. She was a fixture at Lilac’s soccer games. Several years after Paquin and Moyer tied the knot, she gave birth to fraternal twins. They both have a lot of time on their hands to take care of their large household since the HBO show ended its run last year.

Jada Pinkett Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith became a stepmother after marrying her husband Will. The rapper turned blockbuster movie star had one son from his first marriage. He paid homage to his son Trey in the heartfelt song “Just The Two Of Us.” The Philly native opened up about how fatherhood changed him and at the end of the music video, he was joined by pregnant wife Jada. The two are also parents to children Jaden and Willow Smith, who have stepped into the world of entertainment.

LeAnn Rimes

Married life hasn’t been too easy for LeAnn Rimes since saying “I do” to Eddie Cibrian. That’s because his first wife and mother of his two sons Brandi Glanville wasn’t too happy to see her husband engaged in a public display of affection with Rimes on the cover of the tabloids. He left Glanville to be with Rimes and the country singer has struggled with being a stepmom because the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star wasn’t too happy to have her around her boys. Rimes once posted a photo to Instagram of her hanging out with her stepsons and Glanville took her to task for it over social media.

Nene Leakes

Nene Leakes has been with her husband Gregg for nearly 20 years but there’s been bad blood between the reality star and his five children for much of their relationship. When Nene and Gregg were ready to remarry, they sat down with his children and the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cameras for a pow-wow. Tensions were high after Gregg revealed that Nene wasn’t comfortable with his children because she felt they didn’t like her. His son Damien went even on the radio in the past and had a few choice words for his stepmother.

Tori Spelling

Things in Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott’s household were a bit rough early on their marriage. They had both ended their unions with other people to be together but he came into their relationship with son Jack, which made the tension between Spelling and Jack’s mother Mary Jo Eustache difficult, to say the least. Over time, Spelling and Eustache learned to live with each other and the “Beverly Hills 90210” alum had a very valuable piece of advice to share with other stepmothers. “The most important thing I learned was to make sure Jack knew I was never going to try to take his mother’s place,” she said.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

When Michael Douglas married Catherine Zeta-Jones in 1999, he was already the father to an adult son. But his days of changing diapers and hearing the pitter-patter of little feet weren’t over. Jones, who became the stepmother to Douglas’ son Cameron, gave birth to two children of their own. The legendary actor watched his eldest born go to prison after several drug arrests. The “Perfect Murder” star showed up in court to be a character witness in an appeal to have Cameron’s sentence reduced but he was denied and is expected to stay in prison until 2018.
