When Dylan McDermott was just five years old he lost his mother. Diane McDermott’s death was originally ruled an accident but police later found enough evidence to file murder charges against her boyfriend John Sponza. He told police that Diane had picked up his gun while he was cleaning it and accidentally shot herself but they weren’t buying his story. Five years later Sponza, who reportedly had mob ties, was killed and stuffed into the trunk of a car.
