The end of a marriage can be tough enough emotionally but for some people, they also end up penniless. These celebrities were facing some serious money woes and were left broke following a divorce while others were left in the poor house because of child support payments.

Ginuwine

Back in the 90’s Ginuwine had all of the ladies wanting to ride his pony. The R&B singer dropped his debut album in 1996 and since then he’s released numerous platinum albums, and as recently as two years ago, he formed the R&B supergroup TGT with fellow singers Tyrese and Tank. But according to Ginuwine’s lawyer, he’s broke and on the verge of bankruptcy. During court proceedings for a lawsuit filed against the singer, his lawyer revealed that he was left virtually penniless after the quiet divorce from his wife, rapper Sole.

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson has a little knowledge about divorce proceedings because he’s done it twice. His one-year marriage to actress Robin Givens ended in 1988 but it was his divorce from second wife Monica Turner in 2002 that really broke his pockets. The former heavyweight champion was known for his out-of-control spending habits but he cried broke saying he was unable to pay Turner the $10 million settlement. The following year, he filed for bankruptcy.

Terrell Owens

Terrell Owens made more than $70 million during his career with the NFL but he has little to show for it. The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver certainly enjoyed the lifestyle of a rich athlete and he loved the attention from the ladies that came with it. Owens has four children by four different women and the child support payments of more than $40,000 a month became too much for him to handle. When he couldn’t pay, Owens was ordered to perform community service and he did at an L.A. Goodwill store.

Brandi Glanville

Brandi Glanville joined the cast of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” following her divorce from cheating husband Eddie Cibrian. While her presence was immediately felt on the show, Glanville didn’t join reality television for the fame but for the money. At the time of her divorce, the 36-year-old mother of two was left penniless with no established line of credit. She was forced to ask her father to co-sign a lease for a modest house in Los Angeles. Which is probably why Glanville had even more disdain for her husband’s mistress-turned-wife LeAnn Rimes.

Lorraine Bracco

Lorraine Bracco’s character tried to dole out sage advice for one of television’s most beloved, yet cold-blooded mob bosses in “The Sopranos,” but she might’ve needed to see a therapist of her own following her money issues. The twice-divorced actress went through a very nasty and costly custody battle with her former boyfriend Harvey Keitel. Three years after the couple split, they went to court to duke it out over their daughter Stella. It was drawn out in court and five years later, Bracco filed for bankruptcy due to the overwhelming legal fees.

Evander Holyfield

Evander Holyfield made millions and millions of dollars knocking opponents out in the boxing ring. But his debts nearly knocked out the former heavyweight champion. Multiple divorce settlements and child support payments for at least nine children began to eat away at his bank account. When he stopped paying child support, one of his baby mamas took him to court. Holyfield was in danger of losing his driver’s license and his 109-room $10 million Atlanta home was in foreclosure. Rapper Rick Ross walked away with the deal of his lifetime when he plunked down $5.8 million for Holyfield’s former home.

Burt Reynolds

Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson were married for five years but when the two decided to go their own ways, it bankrupted the “Smokey and the Bandit” star. In 1993, the couple sparred off against each other in divorce court. Around the same time Reynolds was pouring a lot of money to invest in a restaurant that ended up becoming unsuccessful. That, coupled with the costly divorce proceedings, forced Reynolds to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with more than $11 million in debt.

Dennis Rodman

On the court, Dennis Rodman was one of the best rebounders the NBA had ever seen. And off of the court his hard-partying and cross-dressing ways frequently ended up making headlines. But despite a long and successful career as an athlete, the former Chicago Bulls champion was out of money because he stopped paying his child support. Racking up more than $800,000 owed to his third wife, he told the court the payments were leaving him broke. A judge ordered Rodman to perform 104 hours of community service for non-payment.

Kenny Anderson

During his career with the NBA, Kenny Anderson reportedly raked in over $60 million after playing for nine teams. But a good chunk of that dough went to divorce settlements and child support payments. His first wife Tami Roman successfully challenged their prenuptial agreement and walked away with half of his assets and $8,500 a month in child support. He also had to dole out cash for his six other children and two other ex-wives. Anderson ended up filing for bankruptcy.

Brendan Fraser

Brendan Fraser made a lot of money starring in the popular three-series film the “Mummy” as well as other box office hits. And when he split from his wife Afton Smith in 2007 he agreed to pay her $900,000 a year in child support and alimony. But last year, Fraser went back to the courts seeking a reduction claiming he could no longer afford to make the monthly payments and it was sending him to the poor house. However, his wife was not buying it and accused the “George of the Jungle” star of hiding his assets.

Lena Headey

As Cersei Lannister on “Game of Thrones,” Lena Headey’s character is part of a family dynasty. And the HBO checks certainly come in handy now. Her five-year marriage to her musician husband ended in divorce in 2012 and it nearly ruined her financially. Claiming to have just $5 in her bank account, Headey petitioned for half of the couple’s $46,000 2011 tax returns because she needed the money to take care of herself and their two-year-old son. Their marital home sold for $300,000 less than what they paid for it, further compounding her money issues.

Sonja Morgan

“Real Housewives of New York” castmate Sonja Morgan lived a lavish life when she was married to her husband John Morgan, a descendent of the banking scion J.P. Morgan. But ten years later, the couple divorced. Four years after the ink dried, the reality star filed for bankruptcy. More than $20 million in debt, Morgan listed both her acrimonious and costly divorce and a failed movie venture as the main causes to her financial woes.

Jon Gosselin

For a brief time, Jon Gosselin, his wife Kate and their eight children were reality television staples. But after several seasons, the show went from “Jon and Kate Plus 8” to just “Kate Plus 8” when the couple split up. Jon soon found out how expensive it was to take care of eight children without a reality television check coming in. He tried working odd jobs including a waiter at a restaurant but it still wasn’t enough to cover all of his bills and he was faced with the option to either pay his child support or the rent to keep a roof over his head.
