Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on January 9, 1914 by three black male students. A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I. Brown were the founders who stood behind the Greek letters which represent brotherhood, scholarship, and service. These brothers stand on the motto “Culture For Service and Service For Humanity,” and in celebration of 100 years of existence here are a few famous Sigmas you probably didn’t know.
