Clive Davis’ bisexuality wasn’t the only juicy secret he was revealing in his memoir. He also discussed Kelly Clarkson and a meeting they had together, discussing her hit song “Since You Been Gone.” According to Clive, the conversation was very tough and it only got worse when Clarkson broke down, crying hysterically. Even though Davis is a monster in this game, Clarkson was quick to shut him and his stories down.
She wrote a statement saying, “I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation. It feels like a violation…His stories and songs are mixed up. I couldn’t be more proud of that song. I resent him dampening that song in any way.”
Kelly said she did cry in a meeting but it was after she shared a song she had written about her life and Davis told her she was a “sh!tty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me.”
Clive disagreed but said he wished Clarkson the best. Clarkson said, “Growing up is awesome because you learn you don’t have to cower to anyone–even Clive Davis.”
Woop! If you ask me, I believe Kelly. After Clive Davis went on with the Grammy party while Whitney Houston’s dead body lay a couple floors above, he’s pretty much lost all credibility to me.
