Union explained why she wears weaves and also revealed her tips for healthy hair: “I wear weaves for my job to protect my own hair from heat and product buildup. I don’t leave weaves in longer than six weeks, and I use quality hair. I haven’t had a relaxer in over ten years! Natural hair is great and weaves can give you plenty of easy options.”
Socialite Angela Simmons’ hair stylist Nikk Nelson caused quite the ruckus when he posted a picture of his client’s hair in its natural state. Showing off her freshly blow-dried and pressed hair, many wondered how Simmons’ real tresses were so long but Nelson was quick to defend the former reality show star by posting another pic with the caption, “What a healthy head of natural hair looks like after a good extension job! […] Black women can have long hair without weave. She wears a weave to protect her natural hair. We keep it natural and healthy! #getpressed #getaweave #wegrowhair”
Rapper Nicki Minaj is known for rocking wigs more colorful than a bag of Skittles. According to the company, most of the customers who take the supplements on a daily basis see an average of an inch of growth each month.

Supermodel Tyra Banks made a name, and millions of dollars, posing in front of the camera, normally with a face full of make-up so the former talk show host relished sharing photos of her unclothed face with her fans whenever she could. Her hair stylist washed and trimmed her tresses before showtime and Banks debuted her hairstyle on stage.

Hopefully the new do will inspire new music from the singer, who is working on her seventh studio album.
Jill Scott emerged on the music scene with her poetic songs, soulful voice and natural hair in 2000. Not fitting in to the stereotypical beauty standards, Scott embraced her individuality and her fans loved her for it. Although she can rock wigs and weaves with the best of them, the Philly native insisted on featuring her natural hair on the October 2012 cover of Essence. “This is the simplest form of myself,” she said. “I look in the mirror and it’s like, ‘Hey, there you go. What’s up, girl?’ For me, hair is an accoutrement. Hair is jewelry. It’s an accessory. Tomorrow I may want a wig down to my butt and I’m gonna rock it, and the next day I may want a big Afro and I’m gonna rock that too…”
The women of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” may love rocking weaves, wigs and pieces but none is more addicted than Kim Zolciak. While she has eased up on from acting in recent years, Raven-Symone made headlines for revealing her natural hair in 2011. She opened up about her decision to go natural when she’s not in front of the camera. “I don’t feel like the person that people see on TV when I rock my natural hair,” she said. “And it’s not that I don’t love it, I so love it! I wear it out a lot. It’s really mine, mine, and mine alone.”
Lil Mama has never been one to bite her tongue. When the diminutive rapper/dancer/actress posted a picture of her hair in an afro, the negative comments poured in, most of them being from other Black women. Undeterred from the criticism, Lil Mama vowed to continue expressing herself how she sees fit.
