Going under the knife in Hollywood has never been anything new. While some are open and honest with the work they’ve had done, other celebrities try to deny it ’til their death. Despite evidence showing otherwise, these celebrities have denied having plastic surgery.
Viewers instantly fell in love with NeNe Leakes and her bold personality when Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality show premiered in 2008. The sudden rise in popularity also caused a rise in her bank account and soon NeNe was debuting a brand new look. After first copping to getting some pearly white veneers, the “Glee” co-star revealed all of the work she had done, including a nose job, liposuction, breast reduction and breast lifting. So when she appeared on Bethenny Frankel’s show last month, NeNe had viewers scratching their heads by denying she had any plastic surgery. Frankel herself had to get up and perform her own inspection to see if NeNe was telling the truth or not.
Politician John Kerry had dreams of being president of the United States but after his failed bid to win the highest seat in the land, Kerry went back to working with Congress in Washington. Earlier this year, Kerry stepped into the seat of Secretary of State left vacant by Hillary Clinton. While the position has kept Kerry up late at night and traveling the world as part of the job, Kerry’s face has been looking a bit droopier and wider than before. Whispers in Washington began as many wondered if Kerry was the recipient of a bad Botox job or recent plastic surgery but his rep has denied the claim, blaming his new look on exhaustion.
Nicki Minaj first turned heads at the 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards dressed in sleek skintight leggings and a cropped leather jacket. While her ample curves have been the subject of much speculation, especially when photos surfaced of a much more flat-chested and thinner Nicki Minaj, the “Super Bass” rapper has been mum about receiving breast or butt implants. She did address the rumor about having a nose job during an interview though. “I’ve never had surgery on my face,” she said. “They’ll see contour and they’ll think you had surgery on your nose, no no no, look at RuPaul’s drag race and you’ll see how you can make your nose look any shape you want. When people see my makeup they think all types of crazy things that I’m doing to my skin, but it’s makeup.”
Actress Nicole Kidman has been in the movie industry for 30 years so she knows more than anybody the importance of looking young in show business. After divorcing fellow actor and husband Tom Cruise, Kidman found love and happiness with country singer Keith Urban. Some also speculated the Eyes Wide Shut actress found out about the wonders of Botox. Many attributed Kidman’s youthful appearance to some magic in a syringe but Kidman has been adamant that is not the case. “I am completely natural,’ Kidman said in an interview. “I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen, and I don’t smoke. I take care of myself. And I’m very proud to say that.”
Coco became famous for her body by constantly showing up to events dressed scantily clad on the arm of her husband, Ice T. Coco Austin may be a white girl from California but her body says otherwise. Starting out as a swimsuit model, Coco and her curves also worked at the Playboy mansion. Coco copped to inflating her boobs up to a 39DD but insists her derriere is 100%. The reality show star even went on the show “The Doctors” to submit an ultrasound of her behind, but despite their findings, Coco is still accused of getting butt implants.
As part of the famous Jackson family, Janet Jackson was forced to grow up in the limelight. The youngest of ten children followed her brothers into show business, and as a teenager Janet went under the knife for a nose job. While that is the only plastic surgery she is copping to, the “Anytime, Anyplace” singer was accused of having some help when she infamously dropped over 60 lbs back in 2006 — like having part of her ribs removed.
Earlier last year, actress Ashley Judd stepped out with a puffier-than-usual face and the plastic surgery rumors started to swirl. Several experts suggested Judd had some work done. Putting an end to the rumors once and for all, the Kiss the Girls star took to her personal blog and blamed the bloated face on taking steroids for an undisclosed condition. “When I am sick for more than a month and on medication (multiple rounds of steroids), the accusation is that because my face looks puffy, I have ‘clearly had work done,’ with otherwise credible reporters with great bravo ‘identifying’ precisely the procedures I allegedly have had done,” she wrote.
Being married to an NBA superstar is certainly harder than it seems. Because of the fame and fortune, their wives have to deal with groupies and side pieces coming out of the woodwork. Rumor had it, Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa went under the knife to keep the Los Angeles Lakers superstar happy at home but she has repeatedly denied having any work done. Speculation swirled once again when dutiful wife Vanessa showed up to the 2012 London Olympics to cheer on her husband with a much smaller nose.
Former reality star Audrina Patridge had been less than forthcoming about her breast implants before finally coming clean. Now whenever she goes out and looks different from how she looked before, no matter how slight the difference is, Patridge is accused of going under the knife once again. ‘They always ask me about [plastic surgery],’ she said in a recent interview. “There’s all these rumors and they all say I’ve had, like, six procedures, and I’m, like, ‘Where do you get that?’ Look at the pictures. I fluctuate in weight a lot.”
Rapper Lil Kim declared herself the Queen Bee when she first came onto the scene back in the 90’s. Fans from day one have noticed a change in Lil Kim, who looked like a different person. The Brooklyn rapper admitted to having plastic surgery before but rumors sparked up earlier this year when a photo of the “Crush On You” rapper stepped out looking almost unrecognizable. Lil Kim lashed out saying the photo was doctored and her rep blamed a blog as the culprit. “We would like to inform fans, the media, and the general public that this is nothing more than the blog site doing its best to conjure up much needed publicity and what better way to do so, than to take an American music icon and create a fictitious platform in which to disrespect and humiliate. We at Team Lil Kim are not taking this lying down and are taking this matter very seriously.”
For four seasons, we watched Snooki, J-Woww, and the rest of the crew drink, club-hop and fist-pump their way up and down the Jersey Shore on MTV’s hit reality show. But when the fifth season rolled around, J-Woww looked noticeably different. Viewers of the show were shocked with her sudden weight loss and gaunt face, and her plumper lips and tighter skin caused many to wonder if J-Woww, real name Jennifer Farley, was spending those reality checks on plastic surgery. After being mum, J-Woww finally broke the silence and said the rumors were false. “If I got work done, I would be open to talking about it,’ she tells In Touch.'[But] I didn’t.”
Singer Barry Manilow has gotten used to the ladies swooning over him when he sets foot on stage. Hoping to slow down Father Time, Manilow secretly underwent plastic surgery back in 2003. The “Mandy” singer vigorously denied getting any work done even when photos surfaced of Manilow leaving a Beverly Hills clinic donning a wig. He finally came clean admitting that he had both an upper and lower facelift to help the 70-year-old singer retain that youthful smile.
Being a mother of eight must be tiring. Add in the fact that the children are a set of twins and sextuplets all under the age of 12 and it’s no surprise why a mom can’t get any beauty sleep. But that wasn’t the case with reality show star Kate Gosselin who showed up to an event in New York City last year looking as youthful and glowing as ever. That one appearance caused such a fuss over whether or not the former “Kate Plus Eight” star went under the knife, she addressed the matter on her blog: “With all of the buzz about me having had a facelift, I will confirm that I have not had one (I am only 36!!!). But, I will take all of the talk about how rested and young I look as a compliment! So thanks!”
America and the world watched Michael Jackson grow up from an adorable, afro-wearing, chubby-cheeked brown-faced boy into a slim, gaunt, pale man. For years, the icon denied having any surgery but as his appearance kept changing, the “Billy Jean” singer was forced to come clean on some the work he was having done. Jackson blamed his lightening appearance on a rare skin condition but most folks weren’t buying that. It wasn’t until after his death in 2009, that his mother Katherine revealed that her son was addicted to plastic surgery.
Growing up with an older sibling who is an international star can have its good moments and its bad. Ashlee Simpson was used to having big sis Jessica dominate the headlines but she became a hot topic herself when the press noticed a difference in her appearance in 2006. After denying she got any work done, the younger Simpson finally copped to having rhinoplasty to remove a small bump on her nose. “I was never really unhappy with how I looked, (and) I don’t think I am more beautiful than I was (before). I just see the same old goofy girl I see every day.”
