Are you ready for NBC’s Fashion Star? We are. Even with Rachel Zoe and Brad Goreski providing us with an inside look into celebrity style on Bravo, we can’t get enough of television that highlights fashion. Alas, the wait is over and NBC will be sure to have us glued to our screens come Tuesday. In the spirit of the talent competition The Voice, Fashion Star is a contest that will pit unknown designers against one another in hopes of winning a $6 million contract to sell capsule collections in Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue stores. In addition, each week, one winner will be selected and his/her design will be sold to the public the very next day.

What’s even more interesting is that the host Elle Macpherson and mentors John Varvatos, Jessica Simpson and Nicole Richie. Let’s take a look at the evolution and sensibilities of three of the stylish ladies who will help determine the next Fashion Star.

Nicole Richie emerged on the scene as Paris Hilton’s BFF. Richie has definitely emerged as a star because of her fashion evolution. You can see here that in 2003, it was obvious that Richie was more of the girl next door. But over the years, she refined her style and image.

Just a couple of years later, Richie’s style evolved immensely as she became photographed in wowing fashions like this number.

Today, Richie is a bona fide style star. She’s often associated with the bohemian chic look as displayed in the photo above.

Jessica Simpson has a big reason to be judging. Her fashion line Jessica Simpson is one of the most successful celebrity fashion lines ever launched. Simpson’s simple, all-American girl style has definitely struck a chord with many a gal. Since she emerged on the scene as a teenager, we’ve seen Simpson’s style become more sophisticated yet maintain its fun spirit.

In the above photo taken in 2001, a very young Simpson makes a red and punchy statement.

2003 was an integral year in Simpson’s style evolution. She made quite a statement at the VMAs in her Marilyn Monroe-esque outfit. It was certainly a stunner and displayed her more bold approach to fashion.

Here, in 2010, Simpson sports her refined and classic look – looking just as bit as relatable to her peers as ever. These days, we know Simpson is rocking the maternity version of similar looks with her bundle of joy on the way anytime soon.

Elle Macpherson
Although we already know that Macpherson’s style has always been on point, based on the fact that she came up in the industry as a swimsuit and fashion model, people are more in tune with her chic fashon sense these days than at the height of her modeling career. That’s because she mainly modeled swimsuits in the 80s and 90s. Today, the mother of two is now known for her “comfy” style. There’s no bad or immature looks for Macpherson but we can certainly admire her casual style over the years.

Macpherson is often photographed around the streets in London, dropping off her sons at school.

Macpherson knows how to keep it casual and high fashion at the same time. We love her everyday style as it gives us inspiration to keep it interesting on the daily.

Make sure you tune in to Fashion Star on Tuesday, March 13th at NBC.
