In honor of Ash’s memory, the family asks that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or the “Breast Cancer Foundation of your choice.”

“We are grateful for the kind expressions of love and support during this difficult time,” the statement concluded.

Ash began her decorated career on the sketch comedy series The Big Gay Sketch Show, which was produced by Rosie O’Donnell and directed by Amanda Bearse. She proved she had a knack for comedy and joined Fox’s MADtv as a featured player in 2008, becoming the fifth African American female cast member in the show’s history.

Her big screen roles include parts in Scary Movie 5, Sister Code, and We Have a Ghost.

Following the news of Ash’s untimely passing, several stars took to social media to pay tribute to the actress.

“I am sad to confirm my friend and fellow actress Erica Ash’s passing… Erica was talented and hilarious, whether it was the show Survivor’s Remorse or MADtv. She would put her all into her work,” penned The Real host Loni Love on her Instagram page. “She would always just be there. Now, she’s gone. My sincere condolences to her family and fans.”

Mike Epps, best known for his roles in Friday After Next and Meet the Blacks, also took to social media to share his condolences.

“RIP ERICA 🥲 gone [too] soon,” the 53-year-old actor wrote. Epps and Ash starred together in Starz’s original comedy Survivor’s Remorse.

“She was such a great person to work with, full of life and funny and talent. You left a great mark on Earth,” he added.

Academy Award-winning actress Niecy Nash Betts, 54, shared a sweet picture on Instagram of herself with Ash during happier times and captioned the post, “Rest Well Pretty girl, @theericaashYour last text to me was, ‘I’m gonna make you my #wcw.’ Then we had a good keke. You will be missed! Thank you for all the laughs! Sending my deepest condolences to your family & loved ones ❤️”

We second that notion, Niecy. Rest in peace, pretty girl.
