The Internet has been buzzing this week since it was revealed that rapper Saweetie‘s mom was a popular video model in the early ’00s.
In the “Tap In” star’s behind-the-scenes docuseries The Icy Life, her mother makes a brief appearance to question her daughter about not wearing enough clothes while preparing to film an Instagram clip in a swimsuit. The rapper looks at the camera and says “She act like she ain’t used to be wearing this back in her day.” That’s when it is shown, through flashback clips, that her mom, Trinidad Valentin, who is Filipino and Chinese, appeared in videos for Nelly and DMX (specifically the popular “What They Really Want” video). She did all of this years after having her now-famous daughter when she was only 17 years old.
And while she is way past the video vixen time in her life, appearing in The Icy Life clip dressed down with a baby in her arms, she’s still a stunner.
It’s also important to note that Saweetie’s father, Johnny Harper, was quite the looker too in his heyday, chile:

But back to Mama Saweetie, as the rapper affectionately referred to her. She made us think of all the gorgeous moms of some of our favorite beauties. Hit the flip to see a few.

Sanaa Lathan’s Mom
It’s clear that Lathan gets her own stunning good looks from her mother, Eleanor McCoy. Ms. McCoy was also an actress, but in addition to that, a dancer who performed on Broadway alongside the likes of Eartha Kitt. Her famous daughter is literally her twin.

Taraji P. Henson’s Mom
Now, the Academy-Award nominated actress looks exactly like her father, but you can also see the resemblance she has to her beautiful mother, Bernice Gordon. She raved about her mom for VH1’s Dear Mama in 2017 for having patience with her as a kid because she was “a very rambunctious child.” She also was grateful to her mother for her support of her career.
“She’s my number one fan. She never misses a premiere, a movie,” she said.

Porsha Williams’s Mom
Now everybody knows Ms. Diane is a baddie. Diane T. Williams recently turned 62, and she looks nothing like that age. Her snatched figure and love of glam gives her stunning daughter, Porsha Williams, a run for her money. It’s clear she gets her beauty and curves from her mother.

Teyana Taylor’s Mom
If you ever wondered where Teyana got her abs from, she can thank the good genetics that came from her mother, Nikki Taylor. Her mom is also in pretty fantastic shape, and beautiful just like her singing and dancing and acting (and everything else you can think of) daughter.

Yara Shahidi’s Mom
Twins! Blackish and Grownish star Yara Shahidi stole mom Keri Shahidi’s whole face. Not only are both women gorgeous, but they have an incredibly strong bond as mother and daughter, which is beautiful, too.
“Mommy and I are genuinely best friends, while she is still very much my parent,” Shahidi told Refinery29. “It helps that we’re the same person in different bodies with just minor deviations.”

Skai Jackson’s Mom
Kiya Cole is not just Skai Jackson’s beautiful mother, but also her mom-ager. She gave up her job to help her daughter start her career, and it paid off big time.
“Skai got started when she was 9 months old. I was told by a couple of people that she was a cute baby. I had a job at the post office at the time. I decided to give it a shot, and I sent her pictures into two modeling agencies that took babies. Two weeks later, they both called on the same day. I had to choose one, and she’s been working ever since,” she told Refinery29.

Justine Skye’s Mom
Justine Skye is, for sure, one of the prettiest people we’ve seen in a long time, so it only makes sense that her mother, Nova Perry, would be quite stunning herself. Her mom, an entertainment lawyer, actually didn’t want her to be in the business, but she raised a child who was able to make things happen for herself on her own.
“In the beginning, when I would say that I want to be an artist, a singer, an entertainer, my mom would just say no. A lot of parents who are in the industry advise against their kids being in the industry because they just know how cutthroat it is. It kind of really started to happen for me on my own with me taking the reins by using social media as a form of generating a fanbase,” she told Euphoria Magazine.
Da Brat’s Mom
We have another set of twins on our hands. Da Brat’s mom, Nadine Brewer, is close to her daughter. The rapper shared though that her mom wasn’t thrilled with her daughter’s relationship with Jesseca Dupart, but is being supportive enough.
“She’s not going to condone it,” she told Variety earlier this year, “but she loves me unconditionally. No one in my family has said anything bad or degrading.”

Laila Ali’s Mom
Laila Ali’s mother is quite the beauty, just like her. Veronica Porché Ali, who was married to Muhammad Ali from 1977 to 1986, was a role model of health and fitness for her daughter. That’s right, it wasn’t just her legendary father who inspired her. However, she admitted that her mom didn’t push her to try sports.
“My mom was always healthy and fit, but she never strongly encouraged me to participate in sports. It’s a regret that I have now,” she said to Healthy Mom & Baby. “Once I started boxing and learned that I had the talent and drive that it takes to be a national athlete, I started wondering whether I would have ended up a superstar in tennis or basketball or another major sport.”

Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Mom
You know we couldn’t leave out Gammy. Adrienne Banfield-Norris has become a star in her own right thanks to her opinions on Red Table Talk, but we’ve been a fan of her for some time because the 66-year-old has been fitness goals for years. She turns heads just as much as her beautiful daughter and granddaughter.
